RPP’s Thapa says unification aimed to preserve democracy

KATHMANDU: Newly elected Chairperson of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Surya Bahadur Thapa has said that the merger of two parties was for safeguarding nationality and democracy.

At a closing programme of historical merger of Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rastriya Janashakti Party, he said it is the need of the nation to forge alliance among parties and that it will also strengthen the organisational base of the parties.

Leader Thapa ordered all leaders and cadres of his party to initiate nationwide election campaign in view of fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) poll on November.

‘There is no alternative to CA election. Reach out to people with the message that election is taking place. Election should be held at any cost and the nationalist force should win the election’, RPP Chair Thapa added.

Likewise, member of RPP high-level committee Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana said the party merger was possible after three-year-long efforts while noting that a campaign should be launched to make the party robust in the CA election.

Amother member of the high-level committee Lokendra Bahadur Chand said that the unity was to overcome the national challenges.

Similarly, member of the committee Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani said the merger between the two parties will boost up leadership and visionary power.

Meanwhile, the counting of votes of election that held for the central member on Monday in course of the unity convention of the party has started.
