Rupendehi Nomination: RJPN cadres file candidacy as independent candidates



KATHMANDU, June 18: Although agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has decided to boycott the June 28 election, some of its cadres and leaders have filed its candidates at nine local levels including Lumbini and Siddarthanagar Municipalities in Rupendahi district.

RJPN cadres have also registered their nomination in Sammarimai, Kotahimai and Marchawarimai rural municipalities.

A total of nine candidates from different political parties and independents have filed their nomination to the post of mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City and five have filed their candidacy to the post of deputy-mayor.

Janak Bahadur Thapa from Rastriya Janamukti Party, Hari Sundar Basi from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Shivaraj Subedi from CPN (UML), Khelraj Pandey from the Nepali Congress and Loknath Pandey from Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Democratic), filed their candidacy to the post of mayor till this afternoon.

Similarly, independent candidates– Hom Bahadur Gulami, Ram Prasad Pokharel, Shantabir Bajracharya and Rishiram Kafle filed their nomination to the post of mayor.

Guma Devi (Goma) Acharya from the CPN (UML) and Dhani Ale from the Janamukti Party have filed their candidacies to the post of deputy-mayor while Shanta Khanal, Manju Khadka and Don Bahadur Darjee have filed their candidacies to the post of deputy-mayor as an independent candidate.

According to the election officer, process of filing candidacy has been taking place enthusiastically in Tilattama, Siddharthanagar, Devdaha, Sainamaina and Lumbini municipalities.

Rupandehi has one sub-Metropolitan City, five municipalities and 10 rural municipalities. It has 462,546 voters.
