Shree Krishna Janmashtami being celebrated across the nation

Kathmandu, August 17. Hindu devotees across the nation are celebrating the Shree Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of the Lord Krishna, today.

Revered as the eighth incarnation of Lord Bishnu, the almighty was born in Dwapara Yuga on the 8th day of the dark half of the month of Srawana as son of King Vasudeva and Devaki of Mathura.

Hindus fast throughout the day by consuming only fruits and milk products and singing devotional songs dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Thousands of devotees are queuing up since early morning to the temple built by King Siddhi Narasingh Malla. Government has declared public holiday for Sunday to mark this holy day.
