KATHMANDU, July 21: Ministery of Education Spokesperson Dr Hari Lamasal has highlighted the need to emphasis the career counseling on national level.

Addressing an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Friday regarding the scopes and purposes of the ongoing 11th ECAN Educational Fair that kicked off on Thursday at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, spokesperson Lamsal said, “Career counseling should be started nationwide from the school level in order to help students choose definite career and decide a career goal.”

“Many students are unable to discover their potentials and interests especially after the completion of high school education, and the pressure starts building on them. In such condition, the educational institutions and organizations both private and public ought to properly council the students and assist them in discovering their aptitude and accordingly suggest them the right course and right educational institution,” he said adding that organizational development of career counseling would help students pursuing higher education within the country and abroad introduce the opportunities in market.

He was of the view that while counseling the students seeking further education abroad, the students should also be persuaded to return to home country after finishing their abroad studies.

“It is important that the students ultimately return their home country and contribute in national progress and development,” he said.

Lamsal also was thankful to Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) for organizing such Fair on yearly basis.

Also on the occasion, ECAN chairperson, Prakash Pandey said that the Educational Fair was organized aiming to inform the students seeking further education in abroad countries about the opportunities, scopes and challenges of abroad studies.

Pandey further said that ECAN, to ensure the safety and security of the students studying abroad, have put forth some demands to the Ministry of Education such as fee insurance, development of rescue fund and issuing permission to the referred colleges only.

Universities’ representatives from 15 countries including India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Japan and France are taking part in the fair that will continue until coming Friday.

The Edufair which has showcased 370 stalls and 14 pavilions is expecting about 125 thousands visitors, according to the organizers.
