UCPN (Maoist) leader Amik Shrechan said political consensus should be forged within a week to hold the elections by June and the fresh date should be fixed on the basis of consensus among the parties.
However, the opposition political parties have decided to take to the streets to topple the Bhattarai-led government ruling out any kind of political consensus until this government remains in power.
Political consensus was elusive due to opponent parties’ politics of prohibition, Shrechan said at the press meet organized by the Revolutionary Journalists’ Association in Myagdi today.
He also reiterated the Maoist’s stance of promulgating the new constitution by incorporating the agreed issues in the dissolved constitute assembly.
]]>KATHMANDU: The UCPN Maoist has once again deferred the publication of its internal corruption report slated for today. The party had constituted a three member panel to inquire into the property details of its member during its extended plenum.
Coordinator of the committee Amik Sherchan said that the deferral has been made due to inability of the panel to complete field visit to check the property details of some party leaders.
The panel has investigated 65 cases complained to it by party and non-party members and has claimed that the investigation has kept the names of accuser confidential.
