CHITWAN, Aug 16: The Traffic Police here has decided to implement no-horn zone in Chitwan, thanks to the wise decision that has already helped in fostering traffic discipline in the crowded Kathmandu and Pokhara cities.

As per the August 1 decision of the District Traffic Police Office, Chitwan, drivers are banned from blowing horn in the Bharatpur-based central bus terminal area, Chaubiskothi, Narayangadh bazaar highway, Aptari and the bypass road section except the emergency purpose. The decision comes into effect from tomorrow, Thursday.

Honking horn has been prohibited in the district’s inner traffic routes as well, according to the Office.
A meeting held on August 1 under the chair of Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta to seek better ways of traffic management decided to ban horn blowing in Bharatpur and Narayangadh to be effective from August 17.

Following this decision, the office launched the publicity campaign to inform the public.
The traffic police, for the first time, banned horn honking in Kathmandu city since the very first day of New Year 2074 , bearing in mind the increasing noise pollution caused by vehicles and its adverse impact on public health.

Anyone found violating the rule shall be fined Rs 500 first time, which would increase to Rs 1,000 second and Rs 1,500 for the third time. RSS

CHITWAN, Aug 3: Necessary preparations have been expedited and officials have been deployed for the purpose of re-polling in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19, Chitwan.

The re-polling is scheduled for Friday in Bharatpur-19.

Assistant Election Officer Gambhir Ghimire said that a total of 36 officials including polling officers have been deployed to make the election a success.

He added that tents have also been arranged in the polling stations to minimize the effects of possible rainfall.

Likewise, prohibited zone has been declared around 100 meters from the polling stations.

District Election Officer of Chitwan, Hari Prasad Dhakal, said that silence period has already been enforced from Wednesday adding that ballot papers would be taken in every voting station today.

A total of six polling center have been fixed in three polling stations in Bharatpur-19 for altogether 3,797 voters.

The polling stations are in Kiran Secondary School, Jiban Jyoti School, Gunjanagar and Sharadanagar Secondary School.

Vote counting on Bharatpur Ward No 19 had come to a halt after some Maoist Center cadres had reportedly torn ballot papers at mid-night on May 28.

After some days, the Election Commission had decided to redo voting in the ward on June 30.

However, UML candidate of Ward Gunja Man BK and advocate Tulsi Pandey had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court by challenging EC’s decision.

The Court then had stayed the decision.

But a division bench of Justices Om Prakash Mishra and Purushottam Bhandari, on Sunday quashing the writ petition, lodged demanding to scrap the EC’s decision, had approved the EC’s decision to hold the re-poll.
