Bhojpur, July 2: A man has been issued with his citizenship certificate at 93 years of age. The District Administration Office Bhojpur issued the citizenship certificate to Lata Sarki of Arun rural municipality. The office handed the citizenship card to Sarki at his house at Pyauli itself.

The local people’s representatives and human rights advocates had taken initiatives for getting citizenship card for Sarki. Lawmaker Sudan Kiranti had directed the district authorities to issue citizenship card to Sarki so that he would be able to access the social security allowances provided by the state to the senior citizens and disabled people. But it had been delayed due to the lockdown, said Chief District Officer, Basanta Raj Puri.

Lawmaker Kiranti was also present at the programme of handing over the citizenship card to Sarki on Wednesday. Sarki has physical disability and he survived by begging. He has noone to look after him.RSS

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: CPN-UML has condemned the attack on its candidate to the Province Assembly of Bhojpur Sherdhan Rai.

An unidentified group had hurled a bomb at the former communication minister’s vehicle today morning in Tyamke Mainung Rural Municipality-7, Bhojpur when Rai was on his way take part in an election campaign.

Rai was unharmed in the incident but his bodyguard sustained some injuries in his hand.

A press release issued today by the party Chairman, KP Sharma Oli, blamed that the attack was carried out with an intention to foil the election.

The release states, “The government’s indifference towards series of attack on the candidates of the leftist alliance has surprised our party.”

BHOJPUR, Oct 24: Bhojpur has seen a nil representation of women in poll candidacy filed for upcoming the House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections.

Not a single woman candidate has been accommodated in the nomination filed by a total of various 12 political parties including the major the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), said the office of chief election officer, Bhojpur.

Similarly, from the alliance of the UML and the Maoist Centre, Sudan Kirati has been nominated for the House of Representatives elections.
