KATHMANDU, April 28: President of People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping has assured support and cooperation to Nepal in the fight against the global pandemic.

In a telephone conversation with President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday evening, the two Presidents shared views on the ongoing global fight against the pandemic of COVID-19 and its impacts felt across the world and exchanged views on the measures taken by their respective governments in the combat against coronavirus, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal in a press release.

President Bhandari appreciated the strong initiatives pursued by the Government of China in containing and controlling the COVID-19 in China and in extending support to the countries around the world in their fight against the pandemic. In return, the President of China appreciated swift and resolute actions taken by the Government of Nepal in containing spread of the virus and assured China’s cooperation in this regard, the release further reads.

Bhandari also expressed gratitude toward China for the assistance of medical logistics provided to Nepal.

According to the release, Xi also expressed his happiness over the return of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to normal work schedule after his kidney transplant surgery and conveyed his best wishes to the prime minister for his good health and happiness.

President Xi appreciated the telephone call by President Bhandari and thanked for the solidarity and support extended to the government and people of China during the coronavirus epidemic and also on the occasion of the Observance of National Day of Mourning in memory of those who lost their lives while fighting the novel coronavirus.

The two Presidents also expressed satisfaction on the excellent state of bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen these relations in the coming days through the implementation of understandings and agreements reached during the high-level visits, including the projects related to expanding connectivity between the two countries within the framework of Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network. Both the Presidents agreed to the expeditious execution of these projects immediately after the situation becomes normal.

KATHMANDU, April 24: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, scrapped two ordinances issued and endorsed few days back.

The ordinance entitled ‘Constitutional Council’s functions, duties, rights and   working procedures (first amendment)’ and another ordinance relating to ‘Political Parties (second amendment)- 2077 BS’ were issued on April 20 in accordance with the Constitution. The Office of the President confirmed the repeal of both the ordinances through a press statement.

On the occasion, the head-of-the-state will be given a public felicitation by the local people of Dasharathchanda municipality and Patan municipality on behalf of the people of the whole district, said Chief District Officer, Baitadi Ananda Poudel.

She is also slated to conduct a special puja at Tripurasundari temple in Baitadi and Shailyashikhar Malikarjun Dham in Darchula on the same day.

President Bhandari will inaugurate a newly constructed building and a hostel building of Bhimdatta Polytechnic Institute in Patan, he said. RSS

President Bhandari listened to the versus recited by priests at the auspicious hour of 9:05 am this morning as recommended by the Nepal Panchanga Determination Committee.

The President also received tika and prasad from priests.

On the occasion, Prime Minster KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Sapkota, ministers, constitutional bodies’ chiefs, high-placed government officials and security agencies’ chiefs also listened to the versus and received tika and prasad.

President Bhandari was offered a guard of honour by a contingent of the Nepal Army.

There is a tradition that the President as the head of the nation listens to the versus on the occasion of Basanta Panchami every year. RSS

Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, National Assembly Chair Ganesh Timilsina, Deputy-prime minister and Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokhrel, Deputy leader of parliamentary party of Nepal Communist Party Subash Nembang, ministers and among others welcomed Bhandari at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

President Bhandari embarked on state visit to Myanmar at the friendly invitation of her Burmese counterpart Win Myint on October 16. During her visit to Myanmar, she held meeting with Burmese President Myint and State Councilor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi.

After wrapping her Myanmar visit, she then flew to Japan on October 20 to attend the enthronement ceremony of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito.

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the invitation to visit Nepal from his counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday.

Both Bhandari and Kovind, who are in Japan to attend the ceremony of the enthronement of Japanese Emperor Naruhito, held a meeting earlier in the morning.

Bhandari had extended the invitation to Kovind during the meeting.

Kovind thanked Bhandari for the invitation and said the arrangement of his visit to Nepal would be made through diplomatic channels.

Both the leaders expressed happiness that Nepal-India bilateral relation is positive and promised to take to wider and multi-dimensional level.

They also discussed the undergoing India assisted projects in Nepal while noting the recently complete cross-border petroleum pipeline as exemplary work.

Kovind also expressed gratitude toward Nepal for issuing three different types of commemorative coins on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak and Nepal Prime Minister’s contributory article in a book published on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe at the Akasaka Palace, State Guest House of Japan in Tokyo today morning.

The two leaders exchanged substantive views on the key aspects of bilateral relations that covered infrastructure development, trade expansion, investment promotion, human resources development, and tourism promotion among others, according to Embassy of Nepal in Japan.

On the occasion, President Bhandari congratulated the Government and the people of Japan on the Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito and extended best wishes for peace, prosperity and happiness of the people of Japan in the new Reiwa Era.

Bhandari also expressed deepest condolences to the Japanese government and people on the loss of people and property caused by the devastating Typhoon Hagibis that occurred recently in different parts of Japan.

In response, Abe thanked Bhandari for accepting the invitation to attend the Ceremony of Enthronement and expressed happiness to welcome her as the President of Nepal for the first time in Japan.

Abe assured of the continuation of Japanese cooperation for the socio-economic development of Nepal including in the field of infrastructure. Japanese Prime Minister has also responded positively to help Nepal expand trade and reduce the deficit.

Both sides also expressed views on exchanging high-level visits between the two countries.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Prativa Rana, Secretary at the Office of the President Dr. Hari Paudel, Principal Private Secretary to the President Dr. Bhesh Raj Adhikari and other high-ranking officials of the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Nepal were present during the meeting.

Bhandari will leave for Tokyo after wrapping up the ongoing five-day state visit to Myanmar.

After the Ceremony, Prez Bhandari will attend the Court Banquet to be hosted by Japanese Emperor Naruhito.

During the visit, Bhandari will hold meetings with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and Indian President Shri Ram Nath Kovind.

She will also attend the welcome reception hosted in her honor by the Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Mrs. Prativa Rana and the welcome program to be organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Japan.

The president will be accompanied by  Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and other high ranking officials of the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She will return to Kathmandu on Oct 23.

Xi paid an official state visit to Nepal on October 12-13 after a hiatus of 23 years.

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: President Bidya Devi Bhandari will leave for the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on a five-day state on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal.

President Bhandari is paying the state visit of Myanmar at the invitation of her counterpart U Win Myint.

During her visit, President Bhandari will hold bilateral talks with President Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

Myint will host a state banquet in honor of Bhandari and her delegation.

President Bhandari is also scheduled to meet the citizens of Myanmar of Nepali origin in Pyin Oo Lyin. She will also visit Bagan, a UNESCO world heritage site and Yangon.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Foreign Secretary, Secretary at the Office of the President and other high-ranking officials from the Office of the President and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are included in the President’s entourage.

Prez Bhandari will return to Nepal on Oct 20.
