KATHMANDU: Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has denied negotiations with anyone regarding the process adopted by the Commission for vote counting and its process to announce the vote count results.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal on Sunday, Yadav called on the UCPN Maoist for not insulting people’s choice by not pressing for reviewing the CA election process.

He stated that the CA election were historically impartial and independent and suggested to move ahead by accepting the results while speaking at the program presided by the Club’s President Rishi Dhamala.

Yadav said that the Commission has securely kept all election materials not used in the elction but denied to provide access to any political parties as and when demanded. He suggested any unsatisfied party to knock on the doors of Constituent Assembly Election Court for justice, if they feel being victimized. He said that EC will present evidence if the court asks it to provide.

Stating that the election management, voting and vote counting are credible, Yadav ruled out the possibility of changing ballot boxes, as accused by the UCPN Maoist.

Kathmandu: While the poll opposing CPN-Maoist led 33-party bloc is hell-bent on making the 10-day long nationwide banda success by hook or crook, the government is also devising a strategy to foil the banda in the light of recent violent incidents including arson, bomb plantation and other anti-poll activities.
The government has felt a need to devise new strategy after the rise of incidences of violence and the failure to arrest the riots even by deploying substantive number of security personnel from Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Temporary Police, Nepal Police and National Investigation Department.
According high level security source, the security agencies are mulling over the arrest or house arrest of top leaders of the CPN-Maoist including 33-party alliance. CPN-Maoist general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, secretary Net Bikram Chand and other former leaders of combatants are already underground fearing the possible arrest.
The government has planned to either arrest, house arrest or put under surveillance to other senior most leaders of the CPN-Maoist along with its chairman Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’, Vice-chairman CP Gajurel, secretary Dev Gurung and spokesperson Pampha Bhusal  after the security agencies felt that they might also go underground to inflict violent activities on the polling day.
It is learnt that the Home Ministry has already directed the high level security officials to remain prepared on this regard. However, there is no any concrete direction on when this strategy be going to be to be enforced, said the security source.  Following the directive of the Home Ministry, the security agencies have already started keeping a tab on the movement and activities of the CPN-Maoist and 33-party alliance leaders. The security agencies are told to put the agitating leaders under the surveillance in a way that they are under arrest.
The government has analysed that the rise in the violent incidents by the CPN-Maoist could create terror among the people. Since it would be difficult for the government to prove its rationale if the election is not held on November 19, the government has ordered the security administration to do whatever security arrangement required to ensure fear-free environment during the polls.

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the high-level political committee (HLPC) have decided to hold the CA election on November 19 at any cost even without waiting for the CPN-Maoist.

Analysts believe that the major political parties want to remain at the helm of power by giving an exit to the Khil Raj Regmi-led government but this is not possible for them before the CA election.

They have stood against the idea of postponing CA election as demanded by the agitating CPN-Maoist.

Similarly, they would stand united against those active to foil the upcoming CA election.

However, the HLPC would continue its bid for talks and negotiations with the CPN-Maoist to bring them on board the election.

During the meeting, coordinator of the HLPC Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed to stop the activities of former king Gyanendra Shah done just before the CA election. However, the leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) opined to damn care the activities of Shah and not to panic from his visit.

KATHMANDU: Senior politician Rajeshwor Devkota has claimed that the upcoming CA election scheduled for November 19 would be an exercise to provide license to promote many Lendup Dojres in the country.

Popularly known as L. D. Kazi he became the first Chief Minister of Sikkim in 1975 after annexing Sikkim to India.
At an interaction in Reporters Club on Thursday, Devkota also claimed that there was no relevance of CA that is going to be held without any goal.

He also forecast that the upcoming CA would also face the same fate of erstwhile CA.

On the occasion, Devkota also announced Nationalist Revolution Campaign and claimed his campaign would be common forum for 140 political parties, civil society and activists.

He, however, said that his campaign was not for establishing a monarchy. “I have worn out many (Bhoto) clothes than former king Gyanendra. I am not raising issues for him,” he added.

Sanghiya Loktantrik Morcha givers one week ultimatum to government https://nepalireporter.com/2013/06/12836 https://nepalireporter.com/2013/06/12836#respond Thu, 06 Jun 2013 07:14:20 +0000 http://nepalireporter.com/?p=12836 KATHMANDU: The Sanghiya Loktantrik Morcha which has held three rounds of negotiations with the government has warned of launching an agitation if its 13-point demands were not fulfilled in a week.

The leaders of the Morcha gave this ultimatum after handing in a memorandum to Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi at his residence on Thursday morning, according to RSS.

The Morcha which is an alliance of different parties has demanded that the government, among other things, guarantee the forthcoming Constituent Assembly election, to at least keep intact the previous ratio of the proportional election system, to scrap the high-level political committee for ensuring an environment for holding the CA election in a free, fair and fear-free manner, and to correct the 25-point Presidential decree on the basis of all-party political consensus.

The Morcha leaders also accused the high-level political committee which they said had no constitutional standing of holding the country´s politics hostage and commandeering this government as its mere shadow.

JANAKPUR: While the ruling coalition partner- Joint Democratic Madheshi Front (JDMF) has been successfully retaining the coalition government, a opposition leader accused the alliance of fulfilling the interests of the UCPN Maoist instead of addressing the demands of Madhesh.

Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi accused the Morcha of holding the nation hostage to status quo by sticking to the UCPN Maoist for remaining in power instead of acting in national interest.

He claimed that the Maoists were using the Morcha as a tool to impose its totalitarianism in the nation.

Nidhi accused all the coalition partner of moving ahead without a specific objective and of only taking care of the personal and party’s vested interests.

On a different note, Nidhi said that the parties should opt either for CA resurrection or CA re-election at the earliest.

He claimed that in either case, a new consensus government should be formed in his party’s leadership reasoning that the incumbent government has failed to free the nation of indecisiveness.
