KATHMANDU, Nov 4: The Election Commission has invalidated the candidacies of five individuals who had registered their candidacy towards the first-past-the-post election of the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections scheduled for December 7.

The candidates whose candidacies have been invalidated include Nepali Congress leader Govinda Raj Joshi who had filed his candidacy as an independent from Tanahun constituency-1, Rishiram Poudel who had registered his candidacy from Nawalparasi (West) constituency-2, Nasrul Miya who had filed candidacy from Morang district constituency 6 (B), Tikaram Pangeni who had filed his candidacy from Kaski constituency 4 (B), and Bidur Prasad Dahal who had filed his candidacy from Kathmandu constituency- 5 (B).

The Joint Election Operation Centre at the Election Commission stated that their candidacies were invalidated on various grounds as being convicted in corruption charge or criminal offence or not meeting the set qualification and candidacy filing procedures.

However, JEOC stated that decision has been made not to invalidate the candidacies of Siraha district constituency 4 (A) candidate Dilip Kumar Saha, Sunsari district constituency 2 (B) candidate Hem Karna Poudel, Llaitpur constituency 1 candidate Nawaraj Silwal and Sarlahi district constituency- 2 (B) as had been sought in the complaints filed against them.

The Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Rautahat has sought the opinion of the Election Commission regarding the complaint against the candidacy of Rautahat constituency-4 candidate Bhogendra Thakur Lohar. One Kanija Khatoon had filed the complaint against Lohar.

Complaints were received against 10 individuals who had registered their candidacy for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections slated for December 7, according to the Election Commission. RSS

SAGAR KARKI, KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The candidates including most of the senior leaders of various political parties registered their nominations for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections.

Though, Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba didn’t reach his respective constituency to register nominations, he registered his candidacy through his agent Ganesh Panta in Dadeldhura district. Khagraj Bhatta is contesting poll against Deuba in Dadeldhura-1 from left alliance. This is Deuba’s sixth nomination. He has won all five elections including the two Constitution Assembly Elections.

Similarly, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel is contesting from Tanahun district constituency-1where Govinda Raj Joshi has registered his candidacy as an independent candidate while Kisan Shrestha is contesting there as the common candidate of left alliance.

NC general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala is contesting from Nawalparasi-1 and former general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi from Dhanusha-3. Rastriya Janata Party Nepal leader Rajendra Mahato is also contesting from Dhanusha-3.

Likewise, CPN-UML chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is contesting from Jhapa-7 while Khagendra Adhikari has registered his candidacy from NC against Oli. Similarly, UML leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Subhas Nembang are contesting from Ilam-1 and 2.

UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and general secretary Ishwar Pokharel are contesting from Kathmandu-2 and 5, respectively.

NC’s Deepak Kuinkel and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat are contesting from Kathmandu-2 and 5, respectively.

CPN-UML vice chair Bamdev Gautam is contesting from Bardiya-1 where NC candidate Sanjay Gautam has registered his candidacy. Similarly, UML vice chair Bhim Rawal is contesting from Achham-1 where Bharat Kumar Swar is contesting from NC in the same constituency.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is contesting from Chitwan-3 as a common candidate of the left alliance where Bikram Pandey of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Democratic) is contesting as the common candidate from the democratic alliance.

Maoist Candidate leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha is contesting from Gorkha-2 as a common candidate of left alliance where Dr Baburam Bhattarai is contesting there as the democratic alliance candidate.

Maoist Centre leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara is contesting from Dang-2 where Raju Khanal has registered his candidacy from the NC.

MC spokesperson Pampha Bhusal is contesting from Lalitpur-3.

Likewise, Federal Socialist Forum Chair Upendra Yadav is contesting from Saptari-2 where leftist alliance candidate Umesh Kumar Yadav is in the race.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair Kamal Thapa is contesting as the common candidate from democratic alliance in Makawanpur-1 where left alliance candidate Krishna Prasad Dahal is in the same field.

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: Altogether 807 people have filed their candidacy for the first phase of the House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections to be held on November 26.

The first phase of the twin elections is taking place in 32 districts in all the provinces.

According to the Joint Election Operation Centre (JEOC) at the Election Commission, of the total 807 persons filing candidacies, 323 have registered their candidacy for the House of Representatives election and 484 for the State Assembly elections.

The Election Commission has fixed the time from 10 am to 5 pm today to file complaints against the candidates, the Election Commission spokesman Nawaraj Dhakal said.

The complaints would be looked into and the list of candidates published on October 24. Similarly, the EC will allocate election symbols to the candidates after the conclusion of withdrawing their names by the candidates, if they wish to do so.
