BHAKTAPUR, Aug 24: Newly elected Chairperson of the Federation of Nepali Journalist (FNJ), Govinda Acharya, has pledged to spearhead a campaign aimed at revoking the membership of fake journalists registered with the Federation.

At a program organized by Rafat Sanchar Club here today in honor of the newly elected office-bearers of the Federation, Chairperson Acharya reiterated that the genuine journalists screened through public hearing would only be granted membership from now onward.

Acharya explained, “The new membership of the FNJ would be issued after conducting public hearing on the candidates. This new drive itself would help brush aside fake journalists itself.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensure professional and physical security of the media persons during his three-year stint.

Similarly, Federation’s Vice-Chair Dilip Thapa Magar affirmed his commitment to prioritize press freedom as his top agenda besides being effortful to ensure the welfare of the journalists.

Likewise, Secretary-General of Federation, Ramesh Bista, pledged to work to enable environment for journalists and media houses, especially those operative in small investment.
Present at the program were the FNJ, Bhaktapur Chapter Chair Puskar Raj Budhathoki and Chairperson of the Rafat Sanchar Club Sushil Bandhu Thapa among others who univocally spoke of the need for the Federation to work for the welfare of the working journalists. RSS
