CHITWAN, Sept 26: CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has insisted on the need of an alliance among the leftists in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.

Speaking at a press meet organized by Press Chautari Nepal, Chitwan chapter on Tuesday, he said there seemed no possibility of a single party garnering majority in the elections so as to run the government that’s why an electoral alliance among the leftist parties was necessary.

The former Prime Minister said the UML was ready for the leftists’ alliance if the CPN (Maoist Center) was positive for so.

He took the time to make clear the party ‘policy’ of going alone in the election if there was an electoral alliance between the Nepali Congress and CPN (MC).

On a different note that leader Nepal said he would compete either from Kathmandu or Rautahat in the upcoming election.

Giving his reaction about the party’s position in the recently held third phase of local level election in Province no. 2, he argued the party presence was not pessimistic in overall, pledging to take the party ahead making corrections of weaknesses of the local poll. RSS

On a different note, Pantha accused the incumbent government of being unsuccessful; he slammed it for remaining mute on issues of concern. “This government wont make a year, if it continues its sluggishness,” said Panta expressing frustration on the Prime Minister’s inability to resolve issues despite having huge support in the parliament.

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the four-party syndicate should be removed in order to ensure the CA elections as per schedule.

Talking to media persons at a programme held at Indrayani VDC of Kathmandu today, Nepal said the four partys’ monopoly should be put to an end to bring the agitating smaller parties into the electoral process.

He also said that the UML would work to bring the agitating parties, including the CPN-Maoist into confidence for the upcoming elections to the Constituent Assembly.

The former Prime Minister said that his party was against the proposal made in relation to the proportional election by the Election Commission and added that even the parties winning one percent of the votes should be recognized.

Nepal also claimed that the UML would win a majority in the upcoming elections, and an alliance with the federal democratic parties would ensure a two-third majority.
