KATHMANDU, June 26: The agreement reached between Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal will be implemented, said PM’s foreign affairs advisor Dr. Rajan Bhattarai.

“If the two chairs have agreed to head the government turn by turn, Dahal will become prime minister once Oli completes two-and-a-half-year at the office,” said Dr. Bhattarai in a television interview Janata Janna Chahanchan.

Chair Dahal has reiterated that the party will move forward as per the agreement signed between the then CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) during the unification process. On May 30, talking to Dhamala on Janata Janna Chahanchan, Dahal had brought up the five-point agreement which said the two co-chairs will lead the government for equal periods of time. Dahal had also expressed confidence that PM Oli will respect the agreement and was optimistic about getting the premiership.

Asked will the PM hand over the government to Dahal, Bhattarai said, “Chair Dahal has brought up this. But, PM Oli has not said anything about the agreement.”

“Unless an official statement from both chairs comes, I cannot say anything.”

“What I have understood is that Oli has been elected for the full five-year term”.

“Even Chair Dahal has accepted this. Other senior leaders have also said the same.”

“But, if they have agreed on leading the government for an equal period of time, it will be implemented. PM Oli will have to step down,” he said.

KATHMANDU, March 28: CPN-UML leader and Eminent Persons Group member from Nepali side Dr Rajan Bhattarai has said that Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli will hold special talks regarding the issues of primary importance during his visit to India. Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to make his first state visit to India on April 6.

“The talks will fundamentally be focused on economic issues. The government has already started homework to finalize the agendas to be discussed during Prime Minister Oli’s India visit. The visit will primarily prioritize the infrastructural development issues. Likewise, issues related to electricity, water resources and agriculture will also be discussed during the bilateral talks,” said Bhattarai at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Wednesday.

“Only the issues of primary importance will be discussed during the prime minister’s visit, rather than bringing out all the subjects,” he added.

“We have already informed about it to the Indian side. The bilateral talks will be specially focused on completing the projects that are ongoing in Nepal,” Bhattarai furthered.

Integrated check posts at Birgunj and Biratnagar, railway links from Jogbani to Biratnagar, Terai Roads project, small development projects, Dharmashala at Pashupatinath Temple complex, and Hetauda Polytechnic are some of the ongoing Indian projects in Nepal.

“We will prioritize our agenda of development and economic prosperity while discussing with neighboring countries. We have a stable government. Time is very favorable.”

Bhattarai said that Prime Minister Oli’s India visit will mend the broken ties in the relation between the two countries. He added, “Now, We will move ahead highly respecting the mutual interests. Both sides are committed not to intervene in each other’s internal business.”

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Left alliance candidate from the Kathmandu constituency-4, Dr Rajan Bhattarai has said the communist parties had given up the idea of one-party authoritarian rule some 25 years ago.

Speaking at a face-to-face interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal at Sukedhara on Wednesday, Bhattarai further noted that they have opted for bringing overall change in the country by winning the hearts of people rather not through wars.

“We had also suffered much to bring democracy in the country. We have forged the communist alliance to introduce socialism not communism in the country. We have no goal to reinstate communist rule”, he added.

He also claimed that CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli will be the Prime Minster from the left alliance after election.
