KATHMANDU, Dec 13: The Japanese Embassy has provided a mobile clinic car to Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Hospital located in Karjanha-2 of Siraha district.

Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Masashi Ogawa and Chairman of the hospital Dr Upendra Mahato signed a grant contract amid a program organized at the Embassy of Japan in Panipokhari, Kathmandu on Wednesday. The grant assistance, worth USD 63,043 (NRP 65 million), is funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The mobile clinic is a van-type vehicle which contains a variety of medical equipment for performing basic surgeries. The vehicle along with all the equipments is all Japanese-made. The Japanese suppliers, Toy-Factory and Toy Factory International will provide continuous assistance for the maintenance of the mobile clinic car.

The hospital was established by Dr Mahato to commemorate his mother, who could not be saved due to lack of adequate medical facilities in the district. The non-profit community hospital is equipped with 50 beds and has been providing various medical services free of cost and at minimum cost to financially and socially disadvantaged people.

Mahato hopes that the hospital will support in the development of a model village and bring quality and accessible health care to the residents of Siraha, one of the least developed regions in Nepal.

The Embassy of Japan believes that the project will contribute to improving medical services of the hospital and will help save lives of people living in the southeast plains of Nepal.

The embassy also believes that the project can further enhance the bilateral relationship between Japan and Nepal.
