Their bodies were found 100 meters below the site of the incident, according to Chief of the District Police Office, Prajjwal Maharjan.

Six-year-old Lok Bahadur BK of Maijubahal, Chabahil and five-year-0ld Nabin BK of Gangahiti, Chabahil, died while entering into the Dhobikhola for swimming, the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, said.

Both the boys were taken to Om Hospital after the incident but the doctors pronounced them dead.

Four girls and a boy went missing after they entered into the river for swimming.

According to police all five were washed away in the meantime while they themselves were trying to save.

The missing are Rajani Regmi, Lina Regmi, Ashmita Regmi and Manika Regmi of Bharatpur. The next one missing is Janak Raut.

Details are awaited.

The seventeen year old Bibek Thapa of Bangaon, Bhimdattanagar Municipality drowned when he and his friends had dived into the Mahakali River irrigation canal for swimming on the way home after attending tuition classes.

Locals and police found Thapa´s body in the canal after a two-hour after the incident. The body has been sent to the Mahakali Zonal Hospital for post-mortem, police said.

The girl identified as Sushmita Kandel, a resident of Kanchanbasti, Matatirtha VDC- 4 died on the spot after she fell while pulling water from the well.

The dead body of Kandel was pulled out by police from the Metropolitan Police Sector, Balambu, and locals, said a witness Roshan Dani. Kandel who fell at 6:00 am could only be brought out after continuous efforts for three hours.

The statue was installed for offering worship during the Dashain festival and there is the tradition of disposing of these statues of Hindu goddesses in rivers and ponds once the festival concludes.

The youth has been identified as 17-year-old Amar Saha of Ramnagar Mirchaiya-3. Saha drowned as he was trying to immerse the statue in the Kamala River , the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya stated. RSS
