KATHMANDU, Nov 27: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav on Monday said that poll survey on the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assemblies is against the election code of conduct, and punishable.

Poll survey violates election code of conduct in the context that the first phase elections are recently concluded, and the second phase is set for December 7, he said talking to media-persons at the office of Election Commission.

Poll survey from any organization is barred from the date of the nomination filing of poll candidates until the results are out, he added.

He also requested media not to give space to such poll survey conducted in violation of election code of conduct.

DHULIKHEL, Oct 11: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has urged the government and political parties to move ahead by forging a high-level consensus as the election friendly environment was created nationwide.

Addressing the closing session of a training conducted for chief election officers and returning officers for the upcoming elections of the House of Representatives and State Assemblies on Wednesday, Dr Yadav urged all not to harbor doubt on timely elections, adding that no deviation was reported from any angle.

He also suggested the political parties and government to fully implement the election code of conduct for free and fair elections and warned to book whoever violates the election code of conduct.

Dr Yadav also urged the chief election officers and police administration to work on the basis of support and coordination.

He also directed the officers to discharge their responsibility so that the EC should not issue any directive.

Likewise, Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Sah directed the officers to work in such a fashion that no past mistakes would recur.

Hemanta Rawal, on behalf of the chief election officers, committed to fulfill their responsibility honestly and without compromise and pressure from others.

A total of 77 district judges, nine judges kept in pool and under secretaries of the Judicial Service were present in the training program. RSS

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has urged all not to suspect over the timely elections.

Speaking at an orientation on the constitutional and legal provisions relating to proportion representation (PR) election system in Kathmandu on Saturday, CEC Yadav said that the federal and provincial elections will be held in the slated dates.

He added that the commission was working to hold the elections on time. On another note, he urged all to follow the election code of conduct.

Similarly, election commissioners Ishwari Prasad Poudel and Sudhir Kumar Shah also opined for following the election code of conduct strictly.

Poudel shared that the proportional election system was popular across the globe with 71 countries adopting the system.

The Election Commission has announced the election program for the election to the House of Representatives and to the Provincial Assembly scheduled for November 26 and December 7 respectively. RSS

‘TAKE MINIMAL BREACH OF ELECTION CODE OF CONDUCT AS ELECTION ENTHUSIASM’

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has warned that the Election Commission will scrap candidacy if any candidate was found organizing unnecessary feasts in name of election campaign and distributing money to woo votes.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Wednesday, CEC Yadav said, “We have heard reports of candidates spending lavishly name of election campaign but we haven’t found any proofs yet. If anybody sends the EC ample proofs of gross violation, we will scrap their candidacy.” He however said that the partying in Madhes should not be understood otherwise as it was the time of festivals.

Yadav also said that the EC was aware of the current expansion of cabinet while the election code of conduct was in effect. “Sher Bahadur Deuba is the Prime Minister. What can we do? It is not true that the EC has ignored the prime minister’s activities.”

“We cannot fine the prime minister. But it doesn’t mean the EC is helpless or weak.”

He brought the context of an anonymous leader’s recent comment that Deuba’s cabinet expansion was a ‘transitional cabinet’, and furthered, “Even the PM has said that it’s a compulsion as the country is under political transition. So the EC doesn’t want to drag it any further.”

“At present, the EC is completely focused on successfully conducting the elections.”

CEC Yadav also appealed all the political leaders, parties, and candidates to abide by the election code of conduct. He, however, said that there were some reports of breaching of election code of conduct. But they the ‘degree of violation is very low, he added.

“We have taken such minimal breaching as election enthusiasm. People are excited about the upcoming election. I request the media to relate nominal violation as excitement in people,” he added.

“It doesn’t mean that the EC is passive about such issues. We have deployed inspection teams there. They are assessing strictly.”

On the occasion, Yadav also shared that the election officers were active in providing voters education throughout Terai-Madhes.

He also assured that the security was tightened the EC was committed to conduct the election in free, fearless and fail manner.

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: The Election Commission (EC) has urged all the bodies concerned to fully abide by the election code of conduct that has come into effect since August 30.

The government, all political parties, organizations and office bearers have been urged to implement the election code of conduct.

Refuting the rumor that the EC has withdrawn election code of conduct, Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal said the EC is committed to its full enforcement.

The EC announced the election code of ethics in view of the upcoming elections to the State Assembly and the House of Representatives scheduled to be held in two rounds on coming November 26 and December 7. RSS
