“The CJ should resign from the post if he was ready to be the new PM. This is NC’s stance. But, NC believes to end political deadlock through the election,” KC said.
The Unified CPN (Maoist) did not want to go to the election making different excuses in the name of forging consensus as it wanted to stick to power, claimed KC.

He said the Maoist-led government has invited economic crisis in the country by doling out money from the state coffer to the party cadres.

KATHMANDU: The central committee meeting of the CPN (UML) has started recently. The meeting would make a final decision whether or not to form the CJ-led election government. The top leaders meeting with the President was put off as the UML failed to make its official stance.

On Friday, most of the central committee members of the UML were sharply divided over the formation of the CJ-led government. “They opined their views against the CJ-headed government,” UML’s publicity department chief Pradip Gyawali said.

However, the party establishment faction has tried to appease the party central committee members saying that formation of the CJ-led government was an opportunity to replace the Bhattarai-led government and should be cashed in. However, party general secretary Ishwor Pokhrel, secretary Shankar Pokhrel and some other leaders have opposed the CJ-headed government as it would challenge the theory of power separation.

The meeting would begin at the President House after the UML makes its final decision on the CJ-led government from the emergency CC meeting.

The President and top leaders of the major political forces would also discuss the name, forms and size of the election government, to be mostly dominated by the nonpolitical figures.

The major political parties are holding discussions on the CJ-led government after the UCPN (Maoist) endorsed a decision from its seventh general convention held in Hetauda nearly 10 days ago.  The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and other leaders are saying that this was the last and best formula to end the latest political deadlock in the country.

It is learnt that major political parties have almost agreed on the CJ-led government but some issues including the rights of the government, members to be appointed, date for fresh elections and provision to call back the government if it fails to hold the CA elections, among  others are left to sort out by the top leaders.

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress general secretary Prakash Man Singh has said that party’s top three top leaders—President Sushil Koirala, Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel and senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba—has not rights to take any political decision by going against the theory of power separation.

Earlier, despite heavy debate the party’s central committee meeting, three top leaders of the NC were entrusted with the responsibility to hold talks with other parties to replace the current Bhattarai-led governmenn

At a program organized in Dhobichaur today, the NC leader said party’s top leaders are not allowed to take decisions by violating the principle of power separations.

Singh said party’s central committee has given responsibility to the party top leaders to find a political solution, not to put the democracy at risk.

Singh’s statement has come at a time when the NC leaders are striking a deal in favor of the CJ-headed government where the political figures would have no share in the cabinet. The top leaders of UCPN (Maoist), NC , CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha are expected to hammer out the deadlock by this evening after taking a final decision on CJ-led election government.

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling coalition partners held this morning at the official residence of Prime Minister ended inclusively though the meeting was expected to take a decision in favor of the CJ-led election government.

At the meeting, the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had briefed the leaders of fringe parties about the four-party agreement regarding the formation of the next government to hold the fresh CA elections by May. However, the leaders of the fringe parties took exception Dahal’s briefing, ultimately resulting in indecisive.

Prachanda said that the CJ would be called from the prime minister if his government failed to hold the fresh election in the slated time frame.

Similarly, some leaders of the fringe parties including Bishwendra Paswan of Dalit Janajati Party have written ‘note of dissent’ on the proposal stating that the CJ-led government would only weaken the political parties.

However, leaders of the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and Rajendra Mahato were not present at the meeting.
