Thirty-six Nepalis migrant workers employed at the Chinese Village Restaurant in Dubai collected the amount at the initiatives of Prayag Raj Bhandari. Bhandari is from Malakheti, Kailali district.

The amount was handed over to Assistant Regional Administrator of the Far-West Region Dinesh Kumar Ghimire.

The donation was received through the Kailali district reporter of Kantipur Television, Tek Raj Joshi.

Flood in the Mahakali River on June 16 and 17 triggered by incessant rains caused heavy damage in Khalanga Bazaar in Darchula district.

UAE: A Nepali migrant worker in United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stood first in a Culinary Competition among Gulf Countries. Bhola Nath Pandey originally from Harmichaur VDC-4 in Gulmi district stood first in the competition organized by Atlantic Hotel based in Palm Jumeirah, UAE.

Pandey is a worker in the same hotel.

The competitors were assigned to prepare Emirate Cuisine in the first phase and beef items in the second phase while chicken and fish in the third step.

Pandey secured the first position by defeating all cooks working in five-star hotels from the Gulf nations.

Pandey would get a chance for a weeklong trip to Germany as well as cash and others from the hotel.

Raju Bhattarai is the chair while Prem Gurung and Bhawani Khulal are the vice-chairs of the newly formed trust.

Similarly, Gyanendra Gurung has been appointed secretary and Shuva Phurwa Tamang is the joint-secretary. Likewise, Yam Prasad Timilsina and Ram Kumar Lama are treasurer and joint-treasurer respectively.

Yek Raj Lama, Shankar Poudel, Resham Gautam, Hukum Shahi, Rom Bahadur Dhakal and Nityananda Subedi are the members of the trust.

Over three dozen Nepalis organizations including social, political, cultural, religious and others have been established in Kuwait city so far.

Meanwhile, Nepali People’s Progressive Front, a sister organization of CPN-Maoist, has been formed under the chairmanship of Rajan Ghimire on Friday. A gathering of Nepalis affiliated to CPN-Maoist held under the coordination of Dipak Bista formed the 15-member committee.

Harka Singh Angbo and Masta BK were appointed vice-chairmen while Dipak Bista was appointed the secretary of the team.

Shreedhar Bhattarai, 30, of Argali VDC-1 died on Wednesday in an iron factory at Tanzania in Malaysia. He was dead while going to collect the iron pieces at Kazang. Bhattarai had flown to Malaysia some eight years ago to earn wages.

Likewise, Dharmaraj Bharati of Bajura working in the same company died on Thursday. Bharati died when he was rushed to hospital after having health problems. Bharati’s body has been kept at the Serdang Hospital.

Similarly, Bishwanath Tharu, 40, of Haku-5 of Nawalparasi district died on last Saturday. Tharu was working at the Centramelamel Company in Telingtan.

Likewise, Bam Bahadur Darlami of Purtighat VDC-2 of Gulmi district was found dead on his bed. He was working at SBN Industries in Johor. Darlami had reached Malaysia just five months ago.

Similarly, Lakpa Sherpa, 30, of Khidiphalat VDC-5 of Okhaldhunga district killed self from hanging on Wednesday night. He was working at Lemtak Food SDN BHD in Jalan Kotamuni. Sherpa was suffering from kidney related diseases and committed suicide by being frustrated, his friends said.

Pop stars Rajesh Payal Rai and Dhiraj Rai, and dancer Roma Neupane, a Nepali lady who can dance with a single leg, would fully entertain the participants at the program to be organized by the Mechi-Mahakali Elderly Home Assisting International Committee.

Organizers said that the entire amount would be sent to Nepal to establish the elderly home. The organizers have expected participation of a large number of Nepalis living in Kuwait to materialize the holy project.

Some three dozen organizations of Nepalis in Kuwait, social workers, journalists and well-wishers are expected to show up in the charity program.

The program would start at 12:00 noon at Indian Integrated School in Jilip. The Kuwait Chapter of Mechi-Mahakali Elderly Home Assisting International Committee would assist Jhapa-based Kankaimai Elderly Home.

An interaction program on “Achievements of People’s War and Issues of Social Transformation” was organized on February 15, according to National Youth People’s Volunteer, UAE chapter, general secretary Shivalal Sapkota.

On the occasion, 13-member National Youth People’s Volunteer, Abu Dhabi Regional Committee was formed.
