Rae joined Indian Foreign Service in 1980 and is presently the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam.

Rae is expected to take up his assignment in Kathmandu shortly, according to the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

The term of present Indian Ambassador Jayant Prasad comes to an end in coming August.

Meanwhile, the Government of Nepal has presented the agreemo of approval of Rae’s appointment to the Office of the President.

“The agreemo of the new Indian Ambassador is likely to be approved next week”, said a senior official at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on the condition of anonymity.

During the meeting held at the residence of Prachanda in Lazimpat, the Indian envoy is learnt to have suggested the leaders to end the present deadlock through the CA polls.

A source said that Prasad also urged Dahal and Bhattarai to take initiative to end the country’s political deadlock.
The Indian Ambassador had reached Dahal’s residence along with Nepali Congress leader Amresh Kumar Singh.

KATHMANDU: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav this morning and hailed the role of the President for bringing the political parties together to hold the fresh CA elections.

The Indian envoy had reached the President House to call on President Dr Yadav. During the meeting, Prasad has assured to express all kind of support for making the CA elections a success.
