KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Indian Exteral Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj has paid a courtesy visit on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday.

During the lunch meeting held at the President’s official residence in Sital Niwas, EAM Swaraj congratulated Prime Minister Deuba on successful completion of election.

The two leaders discussed on enhancing bilateral cooperation and take the age-old relation and historical partnership forward.

“It was a pleasure welcoming India’s Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj to Baluwatar this afternoon. We discussed ways to further bolster the multi-faceted Nepal-India ties,” tweeted PM Deuba.

Earlier today, Swaraj held meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari, CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav.

The visiting Minister arrived at Kathmandu at 4:00 pm on Thursday. CPN-UML Chair had hosted a dinner party in her honor. Swaraj, before the dinner, had held one-to-one meeting with Oli. She also met Rastriya Janata Party Nepal leaders yesterday.

Swaraj, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, will leave for New Delhi at 2:00 pm today.

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the latter’s residential office in Sital Niwas on Friday.

EAM Swaraj, during the meeting, congratulated Prez Bhandari on successful conduction of election in Nepal.

Exchange of views on advancing multi-dimensional relation between the two countries took place in the meeting, according to sources.

Swaraj is on her two-day visit to Nepal. She will call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba befor wrapping up her visit.

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has met Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav on Friday.

During the meeting held at at Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu, the visiting Minister Swaraj congratulated Yadav on his election success, according to sources.

Discussions on focusing to further deepen the Indo-Nepal bilateral ties were carried out in the meeting, sources said.

Swaraj, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, had already met with CPN-UML Chair KP Oli, CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Rastirya Janata Party Nepal leaders.

She is scheduled to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at their residences in the afternoon, before wrapping up her visit. She will return at 4:00 pm today.

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has paid a courtesy visit to CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday.

Issues regarding current political situation and mutual benefits were discussed between the two leaders during the meeting held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu

The visiting Minister Swaraj congratulated left success on recent election and expressed best wishes to the new government being formed under the leadership of left alliance.

Swaraj expressing her concern about the CPN-UML and Maoist Center party unification and new government formation, stated that Nepal’s development and prosperity was the primary wish of the Indian government as well. She also assured that India was eager to cooperate with the left alliance government.

Chair Dahal, in exchange, shared that he was positive about the unification with UML adding that the unification process would be concluded probably only after the formation of new government.

Dahal also said that the left alliance government was willing to cooperate with India in the days ahead.

Swaraj is scheduled to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at their residences later in the afternoon.

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Seven Nepali and three Indian girls, who were victims of an organized crime syndicate that indulged in human trafficking, have been rescued, said Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday.

“We have rescued three Indian girls from Kenya. The girls were victims of an organized crime syndicate that indulged in trafficking of girls. Seven Nepalese girls were also rescued. Their Passports and phones were taken and they were held captive in Mombasa,” tweeted the Indian External Affairs Minister Swaraj.

According to Indian police, the girls were rescued in a joint operation by the High Commission of India in Nairobi and Kenya Police.

“We have flown our girls back to India. We are sharing details with Government of Punjab so that a case is registered against the agents and people involved,” she tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Nepal to South Africa, Amrit Bahadur Rai said that the mission was working with Nepal’s Honorary Consulate in Nairobi. He further said that the rescued girls were in contact with the mission and the consulate will do everything to help the Nepali girls return home.

Several girls from South Asia including Nepal are trafficked in Kenya and other African countries for entertainment industries like dance bars through illegal channels and recruitment agencies.

According to Non-resident Nepali Association, Kenya around 500 Nepalis are staying in Kenya.

The two discussed the matters on bringing into implementation the treaties and agreements signed between Nepal and India in the past, shared Nepali Ambassador to India, Dip Kumar Upadhyay.
