ILAM, Nov 11: CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal today claimed that the left alliance would give the country a way out by securing a two-thirds majority seats in the upcoming House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections.

“Those criticizing the left alliance as trying to impose authoritarianism are themselves in fact following an authoritarian leadership style,” he said at a meeting with UML cadres at Dahaltar of Laxmipur in Ilam on Saturday.

Saying the coalition aims to bring new plans so as to drive the country on the path to economic prosperity, he said, “the country would be given an outlet soon, and change will be brought after the alliance will run the government for the next five years by securing two-thirds majority in the polls.” Khanal, who is running in the House of Representatives elections from Ilam constituency 1, also pledged to carry out development activities like in road, electricity, education, agriculture, and tourism sector in Ilam district. RSS

ILAM, Oct 5: CPN (UML) senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has announced that he would contest the House of Representatives elections from Ilam constituency-1 from the UML’s quota.

The polls are scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

“I started my political career from this constituency, and have received love from the local residents. So I field my candidacy in the polls from the constituency,” he said, while talking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

Likewise, the UML leader and former Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang has also announced to contest the polls from Ilam constituency-2 from the UML quota. RSS

ILAM, June 19: CPN (UML) senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has said that no force can obstruct the second phase of the local level election scheduled for June 28.

Talking to media persons in Ilam district headquarters on Monday, Khanal said there is no reason to postpone the local level elections in the Province 2 and added the polls were postponed due to the loose stands of the government.

“The government showed its meekness before two-four leaders of Madhes. There was no reason to postpone the polls,” Khanal said.

The UML leader also demanded to immediately conduct the third phase of the local level polls in the Province 2.

On the occasion, Khanal claimed that none can stop the UML from emerging the first political force in the country.

The UML will take the country’s leadership after holding all three-layer of polls and the country would be advanced towards economic development and prosperity, he added. RSS
