KATHMANDU, June 25: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has granted approval to mobilize the Nepal Army in second round of local-level election scheduled for June 28.

President Bhandari granted the approval to mobilize the army during the election as per Article 66 (2) of the Constitution.

The cabinet held on June 22 had decided to mobilize the army in the election as well as the National Security Council on June 21 had also recommended for the same, according to the Office of the President. RSS

KATHMANDU, June 18: The process of nomination of candidacy has begun in 334 local levels of 35 districts in Provinces 1, 5 and 7 for the second phase of local elections scheduled for June 28. The election is Province 2 is deferred till September 18.

Election Commission Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma shared that the process of filing nomination of candidacy has started in different local levels.The candidates may file their nomination from 8 am to 4 pm.

A total of 15,038 people representatives would be elected from a metropolis, seven sub-metropolis, 111 municipalities and 215 rural municipalities from the elections to be held in Province 1, 5 and 7. As many as 6,432,765 eligible voters are to cast vote in round two of local election.

The election body has managed 8,364 polling centers and altogether 66,900 civil servants have already deployed in the ground for election management.
