BARA, Sept 14: Mayoral candidates of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city of Bara have vowed to make the city prosperous if the people elect them to the post of mayor.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal Kalaiya chapter on Thursday, CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Mukesh Shah vowed to develop infrastructures of the sub-metropolitan and make Kalaiya a prosperous city. He also assured to develop the sub-metropolitan as a green city.

Federal Socialist Forum Nepal candidate Pramod Gupta accused the big parties for the current political instability and backwardness in the country. He added, “It is stupidity of expect development from the big parties.” He was also quick to deride the main opposition party CPN-UML for disintegrating Madhes and humiliating Madhesi people. He added, “UML is not in place to ask for vote in Madhes. The party should feel shame soliciting votes here.”

Likewise, Nepal Loktantrik Forum Nepal candidate Mohamad Sami Miya Thakurai also expressed his commitment to develop the city if he wins the mayoral race. He further said that he would connect every village of the sub-metropolitan with the town area.

Nepali Congress candidate Rajesh Yadav and UML candidate Binod Shah were absent even though they had publicly promised to attend the interaction program. Their absence had only angered the local people of Kalailya.

Also speaking on the occasion, club’s central President Rishi Dhamala said that he had reached Province 2 with Madhes campaign in order to cooperate in successful conduction of election. He said, “The local election is taking place for the first time in 20 years. People are excited to cast their votes and elect their leaders. It is my wish that people enthusiastically participate in the upcoming polls, and the polls be conducted in free, fair and fearless manner.

Dhamala also appealed all the political leaders to run their election campaign abiding by the election code of conduct.
