Police Inspector Ramesh Kumar Dev said the couple was attacked while going to bed after dining.

The gangsters have also attacked the couple’s son Amar, police said. Amar has sustained deep injuries in his head while trying to save his parents from the criminals’ attack.

The criminals have also looted two tola gold from Lilamaya after murdering her, the Giri family said.

Police are yet to identify the gang involved in the incident. According to the police, information regarding the case was received late due to lack of phone access to the area and isolated location from settlements.

Efforts are underway to bring the dead bodies to Diktel, the district headquarters, for postmortem.

KHOTANG: Carrying more passengers than capacity by buses has been banned in Khotang district. This is enforced with a view to reducing road accidents and giving facilities to the passengers under the initiative of the Khotang Bus Operators Association.

The Association banned keeping more than capacity passengers in buses and keeping passengers on roofs of buses along Diktel -Jayaramghat road section, said Association Chairman Gopal Shrestha.  He said bus staffs too have been banned to sit on the bus roofs and buses will ply soon after seats are packed from Jayaramghat and Diktel, said Association Member Nayan Kumar Rai.

In view of the pressure of passengers, the Association decided to run three buses from Diktel and one from Hurlung daily. RSS
