KATHMANDU, March 1: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli will undergo a kidney transplant for the second time on Wednesday, confirmed his press advisor Surya Thapa.

According to Thapa, the 69-year-old prime minister will go under the knife at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. He will be admitted to the hospital on Monday. 

Oli had previously undergone a kidney transplant in New Delhi in 2007. However, his kidneys have stopped functioning properly in the past recent months.

“All the preparations for the kidney transplant have been readied,” said Thapa. 

The PM had also briefed a meeting of the Secretariat about the plan for his kidney transplantation.

According to sources, a woman is donating him her kidney.

The donor is The donor is a close relative of Oli and is aged under 30, said the source, who denied to identify her.

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The health condition of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, who is in the ICU at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center (MCVT), has improved significantly, the hospital said in a press release on Thursday.

PM Oli has been receiving medical treatment in the ICU at the MCVT after he underwent an appendix surgery on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister also tweeted saying his health is improving notably.

“I would like to thank my brothers and sisters who are concerned about my health condition and wished for my recovery,” he wrote.

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli underwent a successful surgical operation on his appendix on Tuesday afternoon, according to his press advisor Surya Thapa.

Oli was admitted to the Manmohan Cardiothoracic, Vascular and Transplant Center today morning after he was diagnosed with appendicitis.

“The operation on PM K P Oli’s appendix underwent successfully at 12:45 pm at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic, Vascular and Transplant Center, Maharajgunj,” wrote Thapa on his twitter.

According to a press release issued by the hospital, Oli was also suffering from peritonitis.

The doctors performed laparotomy and appendectomy on Oli, stated the release.

The hospital said Oli has been admitted to the ICU and will require to stay in the hospital for the next few days.

He was admitted to the hospital after the doctors read symptoms of appendicitis, according to PM’s press advisor Surya Thapa.

“If PM Oli is confirmed to have appendicitis, he will undergo a surgery,” he added.

It has been learned that the doctors are preparing for his surgery.

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: As Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s health deteriorates, he is considering appointing acting prime minister when he is away for further treatment.

A kidney patient, the 67-year-old prime minister is likely to undergo another kidney transplant in a foreign hospital, according to sources. If he goes under the knife, he will have to stay abroad for months.

Oli had undergone a kidney transplant in New Delhi in 2007. Since then, he has been doing regular health check-ups at hospitals abroad and inside the country.

His health has been deteriorating in the past few months. He has visited Singapore for routine health check-up in early August.

But, in less than 15 days after returning from Singapore, Oli revisited Singapore after the antibody was found more than required in his body.

Even if he does not undergo a transplant, he has to undergo regular dialysis and will be in no condition to come outside his official residence in Baluwatar.

According to sources, Oli has considered Nepal Communist Party General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, Defense Minister and Deputy-prime minister Ishwar Pokharel, senior leader Bam Dev Gautam and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali as the top choice.

Also, many other top leaders are also lobbying for the position, it has been learned.

PM OLI TO HOLD CABINET MEETING THROUGH VIDEO CONFERENCE

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will convene the party meetings in the absence of Prime Minister and another chair K P Oli.

Chair and PM Oli authorized Dahal to summon secretariat meeting as he re-visits Singapore on medical trip today afternoon. According to PMO sources, the prime minister will stay in Singapore for around 10 days.

The 67-years-old prime minister had been to Singapore on August 3 for medical check-up and returned home on August 12 after getting his medical tests done at the National University Hospital.

However, after showing signs of initial improvements he fell ill again due to the side effects of the new medicine the Singaporean doctors prescribed him for enhancing kidney function, according to sources.

PM Oli had undergone a kidney transplant surgery at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi in 2007 and is on kidney enhancement drug therapy.

Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday has made necessary amendments to the Cabinet Meeting Operation Regulations paving way for the prime minister to hold cabinet meeting through video conference while he remains away from home.
