KATHMANDU, Oct 4: CP Gajurel, Vice-Chairperson of CPN (Revolutionary Maoist), has termed the unity process announcement among the leftist parties CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Naya Shakti Party as a big mistake.

Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Wednesday, he said, “The leftist unity effort is a huge mistake. Their alliance and unity effort is rightist and reactionary move.”

In a dramatic turn of events, the three leftist parties, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Naya Shakti Party inking a six-point deal formally announced the electoral alliance and unity process on Tuesday. The party also formed a joint committee led by Oli and Dahal in order to coordinate the unification process.

“UML, Maoist Center and Naya Shakti are only trying to deceive people by saying that they would form alliance of the communist movement,” accused Gajurel adding, “It is not possible. United Communist Party is beyond realization.”

He, however, opined that the alliance among the three communist parties would bring a new u-turn into the Nepalese politics.

He accused UML of unmasking itself of being a true patriot. He added, “UML is showing its true color now. The party is a shame in the name of communist.”

He also blamed the Maoist Center of not being a true revolutionist party and appealed the true revolutionary forces and patriots to unite together. He further accused MC of surrendering to UML by bringing unity proposal.

He further said that Naya Shakti Coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai joining the communist alliance was meaningless since Bhattarai had already announced abandoning the path of communism years ago.

“The alliance among the leftist forces is irrelevant indeed,” said Gajurel.

“In fact, the alliance is a network of the corrupt parties. There is no single true communist in the alliance. The leftist alliance is not going to prove beneficial for the nation,” he added.

Stating that the unity effort between the two large leftist forces of the country has caused trouble to Nepali Congress, he added that the NC has started looking for panchas in this restlessness.

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Naya Shakti Party formally announced the electoral alliance and unity process on Tuesday. But some leaders of the Maoist Center have expressed disapproval towards the announcement arguing that the party leadership is doing a big historical mistake.

“The unity process announcement is a big loss to the party,” said leader Mani Thapa.

“The party leadership’s mistake has disappointed the party cadres. They have started to feel insecure in the party,” he added, “There will be no alternative left to the party cadres but to leave for gulf country now.”

Likewise, leader Gopal Kirati, expressing the disapproval towards party’s unity process announcement, said that he would start revolution against the party. “The Maoist Center has dumped its agenda and betrayed the 10-year long armed struggle’s achievement.”

Kirati has been opposing the party’s proposal of unity among the leftist forces.

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The ruling party Nepali Congress has termed the alliance among the leftist parties a threat to democracy.

In a dramatic turn of events, the three leftist parties, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Naya Shakti Party formally announced the electoral alliance and unity process on Tuesday.

UML Chair KP Oli, MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Naya Shakti Coordinator Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai inked a six-point deal Tuesday on forging an electoral alliance, forming committees and task-forces to finalize the unification, preparing a joint manifesto for upcoming elections, preparing a party statute and other documents, and not trading blame in the transitional period, among other things.

The party also formed a joint committee led by Oli and Dahal in order to coordinate the unification process.

The unification and electoral announcement just a month before the parliamentary and province assembly elections has brought a new wave in the Nepalese politics.

The ruling party Nepali Congress described the electoral alliance among the communist parties on the eve of elections as an ‘unnatural and undemocratic step.’ Leader Nidhi said that the decision of the ruling partner MC was a big historical mistake. Leader Nidhi even claimed that the unification may even affect the election.

NC leader Chandra Bhandari argued that the unification among the leftist parties would be a threat to democracy.

NC leader Dr Ram Saran Mahat also backed Bhandari and termed the unification process as a game to end the democracy and its achievements.

Although the leftist leaders have expedited the unification talks, even some communist leaders have criticized the efforts as unification among the opportunists.

“It’s an unnatural unification process,” said Mohan Baidhya while talking to Rishi Dhamala adding, “It’s the unification of opportunists.”

“The Maoist Center is totally abandoning its revolutionary path,” he added.

“Polarization among the revolutionary forces is the today’s current need,” he further added, “Revolutionary polarization should be expedited now.”

Another leftist leader Mohan Bikram Singh welcomed the merger call and described it as a positive step.

There has been a huge political impasse in Nepalese communist movement whether which party is leftist or non-leftist; or communist or non-communist. It is a matter of a long political discussion- which needs analysis from various political angles.
