KATHMANDU, June 25 : Two women died here after they were hit by lightning coupled with incessant rainfall today.
The dead are Samjhana Ghising, 17, and Bina Ghising, 25, from Makwanpur Bakaiya Rural Municipality-2, police said. Samjhana died on the spot while Bina breathed her last while receiving treatment at Dovan Health Post, according to District Police Office, Makwanpur.

Similarly, Kiran Jumba, 14, from the same locality was injured in the lightning. He has been receiving treatment at a local health post.RSS

Tika Devi Chaudhary, 25, died due to a lightning strike that struck the house of Sosuram Chaudhary at Bauniya VDC-2, Mainapokhari in mid-part of Kailali last night, confirmed the District Police Office, Kailali.

Sosuram and his 13-year-old son, who lost consciousness due to lightning strike are undergoing treatment in a local health clinic.

Likewise, a lightning that occurred at Ghanteswor VDC-3, Ghoradi village in the western belt of Doti killed Tarasi Malla, 60, and Ramkali Dangi, 55, said Man bahadur Malla, a local teacher.

Mall and Dangi, who were critically injured and fell unconscious, breathed their last on the way to hospital.

Two persons died after being struck by different incidents of lightning in Ilam on Thursday evening. The deceased are Manjit Subba of Mangalbare-3 and Mekh Bahadur Tamang, 60, of Shantipur.

Likewise, two persons died after the lightning struck them at Selang VDC in Sindhupalchowk district. Kul Kumari Thapa and five-year-old Ranjita Thapa of Selang VDC-2 died on the spot after the lightning struck them at their home, according to the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk. Five others were seriously injured in the incidents.

Similarly, an elderly died in Lahachowk VDC in Kaski after the lightning struck him while he was staying at home on Thursday. The deceased is Dhan Bahadur Tamang. Lahachowk VDC lies to the north from Pokhara city.
