KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Yadav on Wednesday expressed his commitment to continuing its drive to book those producing and selling substandard food items despite pressure.

Informing that the ministry was carrying out its all activities in an integrated and coordinated way, he said efforts have been initiated to amend laws in order to ensure people’s rights to healthy food and food supply. The minister was talking to media-persons at his office.

On the Nimbus Industry in Birgunj, which was found during a monitoring to have been importing cooking oil from foreign countries despite having a licence to produce it within Nepal, he said preparations were underway to call the industry operator for clarification after sealing off the industry. “The industry operator will face action if proved guilty,” he said.

He also pledged to continue the market monitoring drive would continue in coming days.

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Yadav, has requested the parliamentary committee to lift legal restrictions on the land the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) earlier purchased for the storage of petroleum products.

At a meeting of the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumers Interest Committee under the House of Representatives today, the Ministry made this request. Legal restrictions were put following disputes in the procurement processes.

“The NOC needs the removal of restrictions on the land it had purchased for the specific purposes,” he said, pledging to discontinue syndicate imposed by petrol pumps and tankers involved in the distribution and transportation of petroleum products. A lottery system, if necessary, could be practiced to make the process of granting permission to operate tankers and pumps transparent.

According to him, efforts are on to remove misconducts long existing in the industrial sector.

Prior to this, the committee members drew the attention of ministers towards the issues of embezzlement of funds in the purchase of plots of land by the NOC and monopoly by dealers and tankers associated with the distribution and transportation of petroleum products. RSS

KATHMANDU, June 4: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Yadav has said the government increased the prices of petroleum products not by will, but it was a compulsion.

Taking time in a special hour of the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting Monday, the Minister said the recent rise in fuel prices was as per the agreement reached between the Indian Oil Corporation and Nepal Oil Corporation.

As stated by the minister, the two sides on March 18, 2018 had agreed to apply an automated system in fuel prices to adjust to the international market.

KATHMANDU, May 30: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Yadav, has urged Qatar to invest in the industrial sector including in re-establishment of sick industries.

During a courtesy call with Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal, Yusuf bin Mohamed al-Hail on Wednesday, Minister Yadav expressed concern over the security and rights of 400,000 Nepalis working in Qatar.

On the occasion, Ambassador al-Hail suggested moving ahead by signing agreement of bilateral investment as investors of Qatar have wanted to invest in Nepal.

The ambassador urged Minister Yadav to provide necessary support including land to investors from Qatar as Qatar has been providing various facilities including land and visa to foreign investors. RSS

CHITWAN, April 28: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Prasad Yadav has said the industries privatized by the erstwhile government, but not come into operation will be nationalized.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Press Center Nepal, Chitwan, the Industry Minister said the government would support and promote functioning industries.

“The government is making reports of privatized industries,” he added. According to him, open market, privatization and liberalization approaches are being misused for benefits of certain people. Real meaning of these systems is yet to be properly utilized.

Stating that the government was planning to start new industries where mass people and foreigners would have an opportunity for the investment, he said and iron industry would be established in near future.

On a different note, he insisted on the need of unification between the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) to according to him address people’s mandate. RSS
