PALPA, JULY 19: Mayor of Tansen Municipality, Ashok Kumar Shahi, has said that every ward of Tansen Municipality would be linked with road network.

Shahi said that task for expansion of smooth access to transport services would be carried out in all the 14 wards of the municipality in the current fiscal year 2017/18.

He said, “We will celebrate this fiscal year as the ‘road year’. Roads should be constructed for the development. All wards of the municipality will be linked with gravel road network. At least 90 per cent works related to road construction will be carried out this year.”

Mayor Shahi further said that a modern settlement would be developed at Damkad of the municipality.
At a news conference, he said four- to six-lane roads would be constructed and added that preparation was underway to bring Sanitary Landfill Site into operation.

He also pointed out the need of formulating laws and acts to operate the local-level. RSS

POKHARA, May 26: CPN (UML)’s Man Bahadur GC won mayor in Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City. He has garnered a total of 60,118 votes while his closest contender Nepali Congress’s Ramji Kunwar got 46,416 votes.

Likewise, for deputy mayor, UML’s Manju Gurung claimed the post with 56,448 votes.Her nearest competitor NC’s Saraswati Gurung got 44,338 votes. RSS

LALITPUR, May 24: Nepali Congress candidates have been elected the mayor and deputy mayor in the Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

NC candidate for the city’s top job, Chiri Babu Maharjan, won with 24,642 votes, according to Chief Election Official, Bal Krishna Dawadi. His closest rival from CPN (UML), Hari Krishna Byanjankar, came as close as 24,316 votes.

In deputy mayor’s post, NC’s Gita Satyal was elected with 19,819 votes. Her closest contender, Shova Shakya, from the Sahja Party received 5,579 votes less. Shakya mustered 14,240 votes. The CPN (UML) and RPP had forged an electoral alliance for the local polls in Lalitpur. RSS
