KATHMANDU, June 2: Two newly appointed Deputy Prime Ministers and two other ministers took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday.

At a special programs organized at Sital Niwas, President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed DPMs and Ministers.

Upendra Yadav was appointed as the DPM and Minister for Health and Population, while Ishwar Pokharel the DPM and Minister for Defence. Pokharel was Defense Minister in the Cabinet.

Similarly, Gokul Banskota was appointed as the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, while Mohammad Istihak Rain the Minister for Urban Development.

Earlier, Banskota was Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology.

Present on the occasion were Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, National Assembly Chair Ganesh Timilsina, Ministers, chiefs of constitutional bodies, chief secretary and chiefs of security bodies. RSS

KATHMANDU, March 16: The ruling parties CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have prepared the final list of the ministers to be inducted into the cabinet on Friday.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, after a meeting with party leaders, finalized the names of UML leaders.

According to sources, UML Secretary Pradip Gyawali will get Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary Gokarna Bista will handed the responsibility of Labor and Employment and Rabindra Adhikari will head Tourism Ministry.

Likewise, Raghubir Mahaseth will get Physical infrastructure, Sher Bahadur Tamang will get Law and Gajat Bishwokarma will get Youth and Sports Ministry.

Also, Gokul Baskota will be State Minister of Information.

The meeting has also decided to hand Federal Affairs and General Administration Ministry for Lal Babu Pandit. Pandit was given the Ministry for Population and Environment.

Meanwhile, CPN (Maoist Center) have also finalized the name of five ministers.

Bina Magar has been recommended for Minister for Drinking Water. Magar is the daughter-in-law of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Likewise, Barsa Man Pun will get Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel will be handed Ministry of Education and Shakti Basnet Ministry of Forest.

Also, Chakra Pani Khanal will head the Ministry of Agriculture. Khanal was the Dahal chief political advisor during his stint as Prime Minister.

The new ministers will be sworn-in at 4 pm today.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the ministers (who are not casting votes in Province-2) not to visit the Province No 2.

The EC has stated that the presence of ministers not casting votes in province-2 may affect the free and fair elections.

According to EC Spokesperson Navraj Dhakal, presence of ministers who were casting votes in the province was natural while it was unnatural to others.

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is inducting 21 state ministers to his cabinet.

10 state ministers will be added from Nepali Congress (NC), eight from CPN (Maoist Center) and three from Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar-led Nepal Democratic Forum.

Maoist Center has finalized the names of its leaders joining the Deuba led government. Meanwhile, State ministers from NC and Democratic Forum will be sworn-in before PM’s India visit, according to sources.

Shyam Kumar Shrestha (Home Affairs),

Karna Bahadur BK (Supplies),

Wanji Shrepa (General Administration),

Shambhu Lal Shrestha (Health),

Jakir Hussein (Energy),

Cham Bahadur Gurung (Urban Development) and

Rama Singh Yadav (Foreign Affairs).


The state ministers are scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy from the prime minister today.

KATHMANDU, July 26: The Nepali Congress party has finally finalized the names of ministers from its party.

The NC, during a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence Wednesday afternoon, also has confirmed the ministries the new ministers will handle.

According to high placed prime ministerial sources, Nepali Congress lawmaker Mohan Basnet will take the responsibility of Information and Communication Ministry while Lawmaker Bhimsen Das Pradhan will be given the responsibility of Defense Ministry.

Similarly, Rajan KC will be handed Ministry of Youth and Sports, Yagya Thapa Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, Sanjya Gautam Ministry of Irrigation and Ram Krishna Yadav will given Ministry of Agricultural Development.

Likewise, the ministry for the four ministers chosen by Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has also been fixed.

Lawmaker Bir Bahadur Balayar will be given Physical and Infrastructure Transportation Ministry, Water Supply and Sanitation Ministry to Mahendra yadav, Ministry of Commerce & Supplies to Min Bishwokarma, Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation to Ambika Basnet.

KATHMANDU, July 26: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has finalized name of six ministers joining the incumbent government.

A meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Secretariat held today decided to send Girijamani Pokharel, Shiva Kumar Mandal, Top Bahadur Basnet, Asha Koirala, Santa KUmar Chaudhary and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi in the government, said Agni Prasad Sapkota, CPN (Maoist Centre) central committee member.

He added that the meeting did not take any decision regarding the state ministers.

Home Minister Janardan Sharma and Urban Development Minister Prabhu Shah under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Krishna Bahadur Mahara from the party have already been inducted in the government on June 7. RSS
