KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Spokesperson of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Narayan Kaji Shrestha stated that the rights of the women ensured by the Constitution and laws should be effectively implemented.

At an interaction organized by Inter-Party Women Alliance on Thursday, Shrestha mentioned that the new Constitution has ensured many provisions in regard to proportional inclusion of women’s rights compared to the previous constitutions.

Leader Shrestha said that women’s inclusion has not increased as expected in country’s political sector as patriarchic mindset has dominated the political leadership in political parties.

He added that all should work to implement the provision of the women’s rights adding that only commitment does not suffice.

Also speaking at the same program, spokesperson of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal Keshav Jha said that as there is always a distance between the ruler and the ruled and added that the ruling side shows different treatment towards women’s rights.

Likewise, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal leader and lawmaker Pramila Yadav, spokesperson of CPN (ML) Kumar Belbase and leader of Nepal Communist Party Shashi Shrestha among others stressed the need for ensuring participation of women in different mechanisms of the state. RSS

BARDIBAS, July 28: Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said the major mandate of the country at present were development and prosperity.

Addressing the district level cadres meeting at Jaleshwor on Saturday, Spokesperson Shrestha said the contribution from all sides should be directed to country’s development and prosperity. He informed that the basic levels of the party would be unified soon.

“Identify Madhes agenda and prod the federal, provincial and local governments for address,” Shrestha urged the party cadres, arguing that if the NCP became able to address the issues of Madhes people, it would be  huge success.

According to the Spokesperson, most of the Madhes agenda related to politics and opportunity had become the national agenda. If the campaign of development and prosperity is begun from Madhes, it would achieve bigger results, he argued.

Time has come for the party to bring change in people’s lives, as the party has dominated the national politics.

He urged the main opposition not to create hurdles but to play a creative role. RSS

GORKHA, Dec 25: Senior leader of the CPN (Maoist Center) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said the people’s mandate, which the leftist parties have got from across the country through the elections, was in favor of party unification.

Talking to journalists after arriving in Gorkha on Monday, leader Shrestha said,” There is also the message for unification of the leftist parties in people’s mandate the leftist alliance got through the elections. Declaring party unity at the earliest and becoming a united party is our commitment.”

He arrived in Gorkha today for a review of the elections following his defeat in Gorkha constituency -2.

Stating that it would be better if the party unification is carried out before the government formation, Shrestha believed that the government run by a united party would be a stable government and so it can work for the country’s prosperity.

He said the Maoist party was not the choice of the people of Gorkha constituency-2 this time and that he takes the election results as normal and obvious. “Although I did not win the election, the ‘Prosperous Gorkha and Happy Gorkhalis’ campaign would be continued,” he said.

Cautioning against dishonoring and neglecting the people’s mandate, and interrupting the process of government formation in any manner, the Maoist Center leader reiterated that the leftist alliance has got the people’s mandate through the election for going for the party unification at any cost. He added that the people’s mandate to the Nepali Congress is to remain in the opposition for five years. RSS

GORKHA, Dec 9: Naya Shakti Party coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai has defeated CPN (Maoist Center)’s prominent leader and left alliance candidate Narayan Kaji Shrestha to secure a parliamentary seat from Gorkha constituency-2. Bhattari secured 31,807 votes while Shrestha only garnered 24,933 votes. Total vote cast was 60117 in the constituency.

GORKHA, Dec 9: Naya Shakti Party’s coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai is leading CPN (Maoist Center)’s candidate Narayan Kaji Shrestha with more than 3000 votes in Gorkha constituency-2. As of latest update, out of 41,122 votes counted, Bhattarai has garnered 20,897 votes while his left alliance rival Shrestha 17,829 votes– with 19,000 votes are yet to be counted.

In Gorkha-2 ‘A’, Naya Shakti’s Harisaran Acharya has garnered 10,773 votes while his rival from CPN (Maoist Center) has got 9003 votes. Likewise, in Gorkha-2 ‘B’ Nepali Congress candidate Prakash Chandra Dawadi 10,921 votes while his contender from Maoist Center Amar Tum has got 9607 votes.

Meanwhile in Gorkha-1 as well, left alliance is leading the results. Out of 32,520 votes counted, Maoist Center’s Hari Raj Adhikari has garnered 15,298 votes while Nepali Congress candidate Chin Kaji Shrestha has got 13,222 votes.

In Gokrha-1 ‘A’, Maoist Center’s Lekh Bahadur Thapa has got 11,022 votes while Nepali Congress candidate Dhiren Thapa has secured 9,359 votes. Similarly in Gorkha-1 ‘B’, CPN-UML’s is leading with 11,000 votes while Nepali Congress’ Rajendra Bagajain has only got 8,870 votes.
