The bodies are believed to have brought down the stream by the Saptakoshi River of those who drowned in a boat capsize accident in the river near Rampur Thoksila of Udayapur district some days ago. Of the bodies, identity of only one has been confirmed while police are working to identity the remaining two.

The deceased is Prem Bahadur Shrestha of Dungmana VDC-2 of Bhojpur district, according to the District Police Office, Saptari. Police said that identification of the bodies has been difficult as the bodies were decayed.

Lord Ram is worshipped during the Ramnavami which is a festival highlighting victory of truth over evil.

A large number of Hindu devotees from different parts of the country and from neighbouring India come on a pilgrimage to the Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpurdham on this occasion. Likewise, worships are also held at temples dedicated to Ramchandra, the Hindu deity and incarnation of Lord Vishnu, across the country.

Hindu scriptures such as the Ramayana are recited and the devotees observe a vigil tonight by observing a fast. It is believed to fulfill one’s wish.

Born as the 10th incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the eldest son of King Dasaratha of Ayodhya, Sri Ram married Sita, the daughter of King Janak of Mithila.

The festival is observed to commemorate the victory of Sri Ram over the demons and his inspiration to the human kind to follow the path of truth and that of highest moral standards

As many as 12 students leaders and cadres from both the sides were injured after a dispute between the groups led by ANNISU (Revolutionary) and Nepal Students’ Union and ANNFSU took a nasty turn.

The students groups were divided over the issue related to the Martyrs Weekly Sports-2069, which the Free Students’ Union of the Campus is organizing from February 28 to March 6, 2013.

The dispute emerged when ANNISU and Campus claimed that the FSU will solely organize the sports event whereas NSU and ANNFSU stood for organizing the event on joint venture of students’ organizations.

The dispute that surfaced at 7.30 am turned to a scuffle at 7.45 this morning, said the students unions.

ANNFSU central member Santosh Khadka said the student leaders and cadres of NSU and ANNFSU were wounded in the attack by ANNISU (R) activists this morning.

He also accused the ANNISU (R) activists entered the classrooms and assaulted on students on the basis of their ideology.

The ANNISU (R) cadres equipped with baton, iron rod and sharp weapons bounced on innocent cadres of NSU and ANNFSU in course of the talks being held with them, said Bikas Thapa of NSU.

Thapa accused the police of being mute spectator when the weapon-studded activists of ANNISU (R) brazenly assaulted on NSU and ANNFSU activists in a ruthless manner.

The injured including Khadka of ANNFSU and Satish Shrestha of NSU are being treated in nagarik Hospital in Gaththaghar, Thapa told media.

On the other, ANNISU-R central member Subas Dhakal said both the sides engaged in a brawl when NSU and ANNFSU cadres opted to disrupt the weeklong sports events organized by FSU.

Security personnel have been mobilized in the campus premises to avert any untoward incidents in the campus.

The missing are Krishna Dong, 12, a permanent resident of Ramechhap and currently living in a rented room at Suryabinayak Palpasa Marg, Subash Waiba, 12, of Sipadole VDC of Bhaktapurand nine-year-old Saroj Blon, said Krishna´s father Karma Lama.

All three children went missing from their rented rooms on February 17, he further said. The whereabouts of children have not been found to this date despite search by their relatives and friends, he said, adding that they had also filed an application requesting the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur in search of the missing children.

Lama also urged all to make the police informed if anyone found the disappeared ones.

The area is tense after altercation erupted between local youths with army personnel of the Singhanath Battalion while drinking alcohol in a hotel Tuesday evening.

Irate locals stopped army vehicles from this morning and returned the passengers buses as well from Sundarijal Bus Park.

They have demanded removal of the Singhanath Battalion from Sundarijal area by burning tires. Civil and Armed Police have surrounded the area not to allow skirmishes between locals and the army.

Talks are to be held between locals, political party representatives and the army for resolving the problem, said DSP of the Metropolis Police Circle Boudha, Manoj Kumar KC.

Locals Anil Shrestha, his mother Tulsimaya Shrestha, Kanchha Tamang, and Antare Lama among one dozen people were injured in the fight Tuesday, said one witness, Ram Bahadur Tamang.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Nepal Medical College, Jorpati.

Sundarijal Police Chief and Sub-Inspector Lilaraj Shrestha was also injured while mediating the brawl, said DSP KC. Two jawans of the Battalion are also injured but the names have not been revealed.

Locals have been demanding action on the Battalion Commander as well. Asked on this, the battalion commander declined to comment.

Speaking at an interaction program in Janakpur organized by Reporters’ Club, Rayamajhi said the mid-May elections were not likely as the opposition parties were not ready for elections.  Saying that the CA elections should be held at any cost, he argued to go for the CA elections by possessing the tasks done by the dissolved CA.

According to Sub-Inspector Lokendra Malla three fire engines, police personnel and locals brought the fire under control after four hours.

It may be noted that the use and carrying of IC note of 500 and 1000 denomination are banned in Nepal.

A fish trader Anil Mahato (28) of Silgudi Champasri, West Bengal of India was found carrying such notes worth three lakhs, said Govinda Thapaliya, Deputy Superintendent Police of Jhapa.

Mahato was arrested while returning to India after exchanging the notes from a Money Changer in Birtamod.

He will be forwarded to the Department of Revenue Investigation in Kathmandu for further investigation, DSP Thapaliya said.

Mathema was given a death sentence in Siphal by the Rana rulers.

On the occasion, martyr Mathema’s daughter Renu Mathema Shrestha said political parties should emphasize on social transformation of the people to fulfill the martyrs’ dreams.

Similarly, former Vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedar Bhakta Mathema said all should learn lessons from martyr’s contributions.

Martyr Mathema was born to Adi Bhakta Mathema and Chandra Kumari Devi in 1966 BS. Mathema was given a death sentence by the Rana rulers in January 26, 1941 for making people aware regarding democracy.
