Kathmandu, July 2 : The main opposition Nepali Congress has said that the sudden ending of the ongoing session of the federal parliament was unfortunate, as many important bills including the resolution to face the challenges brought about by Corona Virus and MCC were under consideration.

The main opposition was not consulted neither was any prior notice given, says a statement issued by NC spokesperson Biswa Prakash Sharma. “It is not only sad, but condemnable that the ill-effect of the dispute within the ruling party has impacted the parliament session.”

The entire parliament should have come up with a common approach and a better strategy to address the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed many and infected thousands in the country. But the hassled ending of the ongoing session shed lights on the government’s profound ignorance towards the situation.

“The Nepali Congress expresses its disagreement towards the hurried ending of the federal parliament session, as it questions the Prime Minister whether people’s life is more important or the politics of power,” adds the statement.(RSS)

KATHMANDU, July 6: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has advised the government to withdraw the recent decision of the Council of Ministers to revoke decisions about political appointments made by the erstwhile government led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The Cabinet meeting last Wednesday decided to cancel political appointments dating back to the Deuba government.

Demanding a time on the onset of a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) today, party lawmaker Jitendra Narayan Dev said the government activities seemed capable of triggering the politics of confrontation with the main opposition. He went on to say that such move was not a nice gesture for democracy, urging the incumbent government headed by Nepal Communist Party (NCP) not to rescind political appointments made by the Deuba government just for ‘political revenge’.

He took the moment to call on the government to memorize the culture of cooperation promoted by Pushpalal Shrestha and Madan Bhandari, the veteran communist leaders, and to give up arrogance and overcome the problem of pride, adding that the politics of confrontation would do good for none else.
