KATHMANDU,  Feb 25: Nepal Police have arrested 26 cadres of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ in connection with the bomb blast at the Ncell headquarter in Nakkhu, Lalitpur on Friday evening that left one dead and two injured.

Over 15 Ncell offices and telecommunication towers were targeted in a series of bomb blasts across the country including Baglung, Myagdi, Kaski, Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu.

The arrests come after the CPN, a rebel faction of former CPN (Maoist) party, took the responsibility of the attack on Sunday.

A CPN leader admitted that the party targeted the Ncell corporate offices to protest the evading of the tax defying the Supreme Court order by the company, reported Republica.

The Annapurna Post earlier had reporter that said that a CPN leader on condition of anonymity had taken the responsibility of the attack. Ncell, a privately owned mobile network operator in Nepal, is yet to pay Rs 38 billion capital gains tax to the government.

The CPN cadres were arrested from different parts of the country, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson Uttam Raj Subedi.

The police have already detained two security guards of Ncell following the Friday blasts.

KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has taken the responsibility of the multiple bomb blasts targeting Ncell offices and transmission towers that took place on Friday evening, according to a report.

Two leaders associated with Biplav-led CPN came in contact with The Annapurna Post and took in responsibility of the bomb blasts on condition of of anonymity, reported the Post.

They also claimed that the Ncell bomb attacks occurred in the past two days were “in line with the party’s policy,” it further reported.

Several improvised explosive device (IED) went off targeting 15 Ncell towers across the country on Friday evening including Baglung, Myagdi, Kaski, Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu, among others districts terrifying the nation.

A retired Singapore police, Sim Prasad Gurung, 49 was killed while Pratikshya Khaka, 26, and Urusha Manandhar, 25 were injured in a bomb explosion at Ncell headquarters in Nakkhu, Lalitpur. Khadka and Manandhar are undergoing treatment at Nepal Mediciti Hospital, and are out of danger.

Ncell has termed this attack on its assets as “irresponsible” and “senseless acts of terror”.

Biplav, who has been condemning Ncell for evading tax, was the prime suspect of the police.  Recovering of a paper containing a message condemning Ncell for evading taxes and not investing its profit in Nepal was also recovered from a blast site in Sukhlaphanta Municipality-4 of Kanchanpur district, had led Biplav under suspicion.

Biplav’s party is also notorious for leading a number of attacks in the country including bomb blasts on in Arun-III Hydropower Project in Sankhuwasabha district on April 30, and June 13 last year.
