RUPANDEHI: Federal Socialist Party Chairman Ashok Rai has accused the major political parties of giving the gift of Prime Minister to Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi for giving a verdict to dissolve the CA.

Rai also said that major political parties admitted their failure by giving the post of Prime Minister to the same figure who gave a verdict against the CA term extension.

At a press meet in Butwal this morning, Rai said that the new government cannot hold the free and fair elections. Rai reasoned that the agreement of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha to make the CJ as the new prime minister was no more than a conspiracy and their failure.

Similarly, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (Nefin) has said that its serious attention was drawn to the political agreement for the formation of the CJ-led government. “This is the matter of shame for democracy,” chairman of Nefin Ram Kumar Lekhi said by issuing a press statement today.

Nepal’s Janjati federation to hit streets against lead political parties https://nepalireporter.com/2012/12/3021 https://nepalireporter.com/2012/12/3021#respond Sun, 16 Dec 2012 10:58:06 +0000 http://nepalireporter.com/?p=3021 KATHMANDU: Nepal’s janjati and indigenous leaders have slammed lead political parties for moving ahead without consulting them.

A federation of these community, Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN, on Sunday rolled out plans to launch street protests against what it said conspiracy to undermine their demands recognised by the erstwhile constituent assembly.

NEFIN chairman Raj Kumar Lekhi has claimed that the three lead parties were reaching agreement to form consensus government by agreeing on multi-ethnic identity as basis for federalism, reducing proportional representation and seats of the new constituent assembly, promulgating the new constitution through legislature parliament and to nullify various reports prepared by various thematic committees of the erstwhile CA.

Though the press release did not elaborate any basis for such claims, it nevertheless announced the organisations plan to protest against the major parties- UCPN Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML—and the United Democratic Madhesi Front.

The federation has announced to organise a protest assembly at Ratnapark in Shantibatika on Monday morning. The threat comes a day short before the time line given by the President to lead parties to forming national consensus government ends.

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s indigenous nationalities leaders have slammed the recently published census report claiming that it is an conspiracy to downsize their population and thereby marginalize their revolution for identity.

Claiming that the report has been prepared with an intention of marginalized indegnous nationalities, General Secretary of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Aang Kaji Sherpa warned that they were taking to street against the report.

Nepal’s interim constitution has declared the nation to be secular nation but Sherpa claimed that the department has tried to marginalise followers of other religion by showing that Hinduism is the dominant  religion.

” Most of the indigenous nationalities in Himalayan region are Buddhist, fifty percent of the Newars are Buddhist. In these circumstances how can the numbers of Hindus increase?” said Sherpa stating that they won’t accept the report.

The Federation has demanded that district based census should be released, the datas should be analysed in the presence of their representative, taking some resamples and re writing the report if any resamples contradict the data.

However, Nepal’s Central Statistics department refuted NEFIN’s claim stating that it had collected neutral data by practising data collection and analysis methods prescribed by the United Nations.

” We had collected data after holding intense discussions and trainings from expert” Departments Population department chief Rudra Suwal said adding ” we had prepared the report by analysing datas as we had collected.”
