The exams were held from April 30 to May 12. The office of the controller of examination under the HSEB on Thursday said that out of the 2,08,701 students, 80,620 students passed.

Of the total 38.63 percentage of the students are passed. Of others, Five students’s result has been withheld and 171 students were expelled.
The results can be viewed by logging on to www.hseb.edu.np and www.hseb.ntc.net.np

The union called the school closure in support of the demand of Nepal Relief Teachers’ Struggle Committee. The union has expressed its solidarity to the committee for fulfilling the appropriate demands of the teachers appointed on relief quota.

The closure of community schools is for creating pressure on the authorities towards addressing the demand, said Bharat Prasad Sah, chairman of the union.

The relief teachers are protesting for months calling for the fulfillment of their four points demand including an increment in salary. There are 477 community schools in the district.

At an interaction programme organised to mark the anniversary of Modern Kanya Multiple College in the capital today, Minister Paudel said that 34 per cent of illiterates aged 15 years and over proves that challenges exist in education sector despite achievements.

Minister Paudel said that those deprived from access to education are backward socially and culturally as well.

Minister Paudel also added that reform in the results of the school leaving certificate was needed.

On a separate context, Minister Paudel, who is also the government spokesperson, urged one and all not to cast doubt regarding the forthcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

“Election is country’s common agenda. Necessary legal provision, allocation of budget, security system, parties’ registration, implementation of code of conduct, international community’s support and goodwill have been received for election. Election will hold in slated date,” Paduel added.

On the occasion, Chairman of the College Management Committee Ram Prasad Dahal, Prof Gopi Krishna Sharma and college principal Sabin Pokhrel, among others expressed their opinions.

During the programme, former students of the college including actress Namrata Shrestha, air hostess Anjali Khanal and Anita Acharya were honoured for their contribution to different fields in the society.

Stating that vacancy announcement made by the Education Ministry, Teachers’ Service Commission last January is aimed at terminating them, the Temporary Teachers’ Struggle Committee-2069 BS staged a sit-in protest in front of all the District Education Offices across the country.

The agitating teachers have demanded that they should be made permanent through a due process and any discriminations against them be ended.

We need job guarantee through equal internal process and would continue protests until our voices are addressed, Committee Chairperson Ram Chandra Adhikari said, warning of intensifying the protest if their demands go unheard.

According to a news run by kansas.com,  the Nepalis students conspired to maintain their non-immigrant visas by making false statements that they possessed funds to pursue their study at K-State while supporting themselves and their dependants.

All nine students had obtained temporary possession of financial resources for the purpose of obtaining statements from financial institutions to support their claims that each personally had the needed funds in 2008.

The students temporarily obtained funds from fellow Nepalese students and deposited the funds in their bank accounts. After getting the notarized bank letter, they returned the funds to the other students.

The indicted students are Mahendra Thapa, 33; Khem Acharya, 41; Raj Kumar Dani, 37; Santosh Ghimire, 37; Lila Ballav Pandey, 41; Laxman Pokhrel, 37; Keshar Prasain, 38; Govind Paneru, 32; and Narayan Chapagain, 43.

If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on each count. The state department and homeland security participated in the investigation.

FALEBAS: An appeal for support made on Facebook has helped raise funds for the establishment of an e-library in a school in Parbat. The Nawajagrit Higher Secondary School in Tilhar, Parbat has received a computer and Rs. 210,000 in cash from donors who responded to a call for support made by the School’s principal in his Facebook wall.

Former students of the school now in Italy and the Non-Resident Nepalis Association in Italy provided the initial support and have assured for additional assistance, said Principal Bishnu Prasad Subedi.

Earlier, on Sunday the academic institutions were shutdown nationwide by the school runners. Some 7.5 million students have been affected by the strike continuously two days.

Similarly, the pre-board examinations of grade 12 and grade 10 were also affected due to the strike.

The Maoist affiliated student’s union organized the strike protesting the schools owners’ strike and misbehave carried out by the college to the students for constituting organization in the college.

Some 7.5 million students of schools and colleges across the country have been prevented from their right to education due to the private schools’ owners.

The APIN called for the strike protesting the torching of school bus of Goldengate College by the students of All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary.

Recently, the Goldengate College and All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary are at the loggerheads.

The UCPN (Maoist) aligned students’ union has also called for an educational strike on Monday saying that the CEO Ramesh Silwal of the Goldengate College manhandled the student of union in the college and misbehaved with them.
