BAITADI, April 18: A total of 106 persons have been rescued from Jhulaghat of Nepal-India border in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

Border Police Post, Jhulaghat, said that the number of boy children is highest among the rescued ones.

Sub-Inspector of border Police Post Chakradev Pandey said 56 minor boys, 25 teens, nine males, six teen girls, five minor girls and five women were rescued during the period. Pandey said that most of the rescued children and persons are from 12 to 18 years of age.

According to the police, the schoolchildren leave for India to escape poverty and harsh life back in home by being swayed from their friends and peer.

Likewise, the police have rescued some minor couples from the Nepal-India border.
The people of hilly districts in the Province No. 7 and people from Jumla, Kalikot and Humla use the Jhulaghat border point in Baitadi to leave for India. RSS

BAITADAI, Nov 21: Nepal-India border in Baitadi, a district of the Province 7, is to be sealed for three days in view of the first round of the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies scheduled for November 26.

Jhulaghat of Baitadi shares border with India. Likewise, the Nepal-India border in its neighbouring district Darchula shall also be closed for 72 hours.

As said by Baitadi’s Chief District Officer Siddharaj Joshi, the Jhulalghat border shall remain shut from 12:00 midnight of November 23. Movements of vehicles and people except ambulance and sick shall be banned along the border during the period of border sealing.

According to him, internal security mechanism has been strengthened in view of the elections and voters can take part in the elections confidently.

The first round of elections is taking place in Baitadi, Darchula, Bajhang and Bajura, parts of the Province 7 as other 28 districts on November 26.

RAJBIRAJ, Sept 16: Nepal-India border points in Saptari district have been sealed for the next 72 hours from today in view of third phase of local polls in Province No-2 in Nepal.
The elections have been scheduled for September 18 in the province.

According to Saptari CDO Bhagirath Pandey, the decision to seal the border points was taken with a view to averting any untoward incident during the election period.
He added that the police have tightened security in the Nepal-India border areas and intensified security checks there. RSS
