KATHMANDU, March 27: Kathmandu has been ranked 19th out of 25 world’s best tourism destinations for the year 2019.

The world’s so far the largest travel site of the Unites States, tripadvisor.com, has included Nepal’s capital city Kathmandu in the list of 25 best tourism destinations for the year 2019.

The website provides comprehensive information about travel and possible visiting sites to the tourists. The website has incorporated Nepal’s capital surrounded by a valley full of historic sites, ancient temples, shrines, and fascinating villages in the list of prime tourism destinations.

Mingle with locals and animals amid Durbar Square’s monuments, or join mountain trekkers in the bustling Thamel District. Explore shops for exquisite work by local artisans—carpets are some of the activities tourists like most in Nepal.

Garden of dreams, Kopan Monastery, Pashupati Nath and er prints are specialties of Nepal for tourists.

KATHMANDU, May 2: The Mount Everest Group – a conglomeration of entrepreneurs from diverse fields – has launched its investment in the tourism sector of Nepal.

The Group has established its central office in Nepal with an aim to become a multinational company. It has set up ‘ME Travel and Tours’ at Lazimpat.

The Group was formed by the Non Resident Nepalese (NRNs) from different countries driven with an objective to use the money earned through the services and skills learnt by the Nepali people in foreign countries.

The travel agency based at Lazimpat has adopted a strategy to provide maximum facilities to the national and international customers.

ME Travel and Tour’s Chairperson, Kamal Raj Adhikari, said the company plans to spread out to Europe, the US, Canada and Australia. RSS

4 July, KATHMANDU: The tourist arrivals in June 2013 have decreased by 4.6 percent to 41,259 compared to the same month last year. 

In aggregate, the South Asian segment has registered negative growth of 12.5 per cent.

According to the figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the arrival of Indian tourists has decreased by 15.3 per cent. Also, arrival from Pakistan has decreased by 28.8 per cent though Bangladeshi and Sri Lanka tourists’ arrivals increased by 53.8 per cent and 62.9 per cent respectively.

Arrivals from Asia (other than South Asia) also recorded a positive growth of 20.8 per cent in aggregate. The visitor arrivals from China grew by 25.7 per cent compared to the same month last year.

Similarly, the arrivals from Malaysia and Singapore have also increased by 195.1 per cent and 3.5 per cent respectively.
However, the tourist arrivals from Japan, South Korea and Thailand markets saw declines of 10.5 per cent, 23.4 per cent and 18.8 per cent respectively.

An overall positive growth of 1.4 per cent has been observed from the European markets with arrivals from markets such as the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.

However, French and Russian tourists arrivals declined by 2.3 per cent and 10.6 per cent respectively compared to the same month last year.

Tourist arrivals from Australia have increased by 33.3 per cent. However arrivals from New Zealand, Canada and the USA have decreased by 5.6 per cent, 12.9 per cent and 2.3 per cent respectively, according to the press statement.
Between January to June 2013, international tourist arrivals to Nepal have declined by 3.9 per cent to 282,429 in aggregate.

People have engaged their coordinated efforts with a plan to develop the river bank corridor stretching from Gaindakot to Rakuwa.

Among the historical and religious sites in Nawalparasi are Thambesi of Kotthar, Ramesworghat of Bulingtar, Ghumarighat of Bharatipur and Mithukaram, Akaladevi temple of Dedgaun and Maulakalika temple of Gaindakot.
‘We have put on our efforts to conserve Ramesworghat as it is popular historical religious site, said former Chairperson of Bulingtar VDC, Padma Raj Giri.
It may be noted that the river bank could be utilized to generate income and alleviate poverty in the region. RSS

KATHMANDU: A team of 95 Buddhist monks and disciples from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia is arriving here on Friday in connection with the Visit Lumbini Year-2012.

The team is arriving here at the invitation of the Charumati Buddhist Mission Nepal, the Charumati Buddha Vihar and the World Youth Buddhist Monks Association Nepal branch.

During its two-day stay in Nepal, the Buddhist delegation will call on the Prime Minister and visit Lumbini, Swayambhunath and Boudhdhanath.

The members of the delegation will also perform a Buddha prayer at the 2,300 years old Charumati Stupa wishing for world peace.

President of the World Youth Buddhist Monks Association Nepal branch and Chief of the Charumati Buddha Vihar, Bhikkhu Tapaswi Dhamma, said this visit of a team of Buddhist monks from the South East Asian countries will help promote Nepal and contribute to the development of Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. KATHMANDU: The number of tourists visiting Rasuwa district for trekking around the Tamang Heritage Circuit has been growing day by day. Similarly, more and more tourists are coming to enjoy the hot spring bath at Tatopani and for sight-seeing purposes.

Secretary of the Tatopani Conservation Committee, Bamen Tamang, said that on an average 25 tourists come to Tatopani daily. According to him, this has directly benefited the local hotel operators and farmers.

Tourists have also started staying longer at the Tatopani which has further boosted tourism in the area. There are more than 10 hotels and lodges in Tatopani area. RSS
