KATHMANDU: Nepali students recently presented Nepali cultural, religious and natural heritages at an 44-nation participated international festival.

Nepali students studying at the Ajou University participated in the festival in the leadership of Suraj Kaduwal KC, originally from Jhapa. The festival was organized by the university.

In their special stall, these students presented pictures, artifacts, and symbols that presented some special attributes of Nepali life.

Pictures and print outs posted at the stall relayed the message that Lord Buddha was born in Nepal and that Nepal is home to world’s tallest peak- Mt. Everest.

Visitors interested in culture and arts had thronged the stall for knowing more about Nepal’s culture and life styles.

Renu Thapa, Prasansa Panta, and Sujata Bantawa danced to folk tunes in traditional Nepali attires.

Nepali students Bhojendra Tulachan, Prasansa Panta, Renu Thapa, Ganesh Paudel, Gopal Bohara, Subash Marasaini, Tikaram Aryal, Anni Vaiba, Sujata Bantawa, Sushil Bijukche, Nawraj Basnet , among others informed all the visitors about Nepal and assisted in making the event more informative.

While thanking his team for their rigurous work throughout, KC said that their objective to tell the world about Nepali culture and heritages succeded.

Around 40 Nepalese student are presently enrolled at the University. This was the first time that Nepalese students made a noteable presence in University’s program.

These youths who were on hunger strike for the past few weeks in Kathmandu, joined the Mohan Baidya led party with the solo demand of getting them their right to head for South Korea.

Party’s central member and Labour leader Ramdeep Acharay while confirming hundreds of EPS victims had joined the party said that they had joined the party seeking justice.

Among others these new members include Tej Dahal, Pratap Khadka, Naryan Bhusal of the EPS Victims Struggle Committee.

 

EPS Test forms for new season open

 Fresh forms for the upcoming South Korean Language Test due in September have opened. The forms were opened from Wednesday and will be open until August 24 and can be submitted from 9 am to 6 pm in various locations.

The EPS department has said that only the candidate can submit the forms and will have to produce original passport /citizenship card while submitting the form.

Charges to appear in the test have been set to around twenty three hundred rupees (24 US dollars) and age bar on the exams is set to 18 to 39 years.

The department is expecting around 70 candidates to appear in the exam this year.

KATHMANDU: South Korea, which has become one of the most lucrative employment field for Nepalese, has announced its plans to insource 8200 Nepalese job seekers.
A statement released by the Human Resource Department of the SK, called application for the fourth Korean language test to select 4,600 Nepalese for manufacturing-related jobs and 3,600 agriculture and livestock sector related jobs.

The statement has announced to apply for taking the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) in between August 21-24, 2013 and has said that any Nepali below the age of 40 can apply for it.

Nepal government’s Foreign Employment Department has said that it will take the application for the test, which will provide the Employment Permit System (EPS) from Dharan and Butwal along with Kathmandu. The test will be held in Kathmandu and schedule for the test will be published on September 25 on major national newspapers and the EPS website.
Applicant has to pay $24 (Rs 2,266) to get registered for the test, it said, adding that TOPIK result will be published on October 21 in EPS TOPIK, HRD South Korea and EPS Korea websites.

According to EPS, the test will be of two modules — listening and reading — and multiple choices.

Applicants have to attach copy of Nepali citizenship certificate or passport along with 6 x 12cm photograph in the application, it said.

South Korea has become the most lucrative destination for Nepali workers. An EPS jobholder makes around $970 (Rs 90,000) a month in South Korea. Nepali youth have been attracted towards the jobs in the destination, therefore, about 57,000 Nepalis had applied for TOPIK in 2011.

More than 32,000 aspirants had attended the first Korean language test in August 2008. About 20,000 Nepalis have been working in the destination and 18,000 are EPS workers. However, about 6,000 Nepalis are still waiting to join South Korean jobs from the job roster created in 2011.

Job aspirants included in the roster have been protesting against starting the new Korean language test only after they are assured of their jobs in South Korea.

KATHMANDU: The South Korean government has announced plans to recruit additional 3600 Nepalese workers to assist in its agricultural and industrial zone this year.

South Korea’s human resource development(HRD) made such announcements stating that the recruitment will be done through its Employment Permission System (EPS). 

A formal announcement in this regard is slated to be announced for May 29 later this year. However information posted on the department’s website has stated that along with Nepal, other seven countries will be also vying for the South Korean jobs.

Though these jobs are mostly controversial as more and more labor exploitation report keep pouring in from South Korea, nonetheless getting a job in that nation has been most sought after opportunity for unemployed Nepalese youths.

Ujbekistan, Timo Leste, Myanmar, Thailan, Indonesia, Phillipines and Mangolia will be competing in the KLT tests offered by the EPS department, Nepali newspaper Karobar Dainik reported on Wednesday.

As of 2013, of the total 2,600 Nepalese who had qualified for employment in South Korean farms, only 600 are left to join there. But some 9000 Nepalese who had qualified to work in industrial zone this year are still in the waiting list.

Magar a resident of Bungkot-3, Gorkha was not able to treat his cancer due to shortage of financial resources and on knowing this president of  patient deprived of treatment, Treasurer of NGP Purna Bahadur Magar and other officials of the organisation had collected donations for Magar’s treatment.

Former advisors of the organisation   and Beni Jyoti Guvhaju handed down the amount to Magar during their recent visit to Nepal from South Korea.

The duo handed down the amount to Magar’s relative by personally visiting him at the Bharatpur Cancer Hospital in Chitwan.
