Apex court puts a stopper on government bid to dole out funds to disqualified PLAs https://nepalireporter.com/2012/11/1429 https://nepalireporter.com/2012/11/1429#respond Sun, 04 Nov 2012 14:30:01 +0000 http://nepalireporter.com/?p=1429 KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issued an interim order directing the government to not implement its decision to dole out Rs 200,000 each to the UNMIN verified disqualified PLA combatants.

A division bench of SC Justice Girish Chandra Lal gave the directive to remain effect until November 11. However, the SC has said discussions would be held on the same day on whether or not to give continuity to the interim order.

Legal practitioners Bishwas Acharya, Bimala Bartaula and Radha sigdel had lodged a writ on Thursday at the SC demanding that the government’s decision be scrapped, arguing that the decision to give Rs 200,000 each to 3,000 UNMIN verified PLA combatants was against the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 B.S.
