BAGLUNG: Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission (EC), Nilkantha Upreti, has said that election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) should be held on consensus of all political parties.

Stating that the government has been preparing to declare the date of election soon, Upreti urged all political parties to participate in the election.

At an interaction with stakeholders organised by EC in Baglung today, he said there was no alternative to going for election by resolving all problems.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the task still remains to resolve disagreements regarding the election.

He said there are dissatisfactions related to election but there was no alternative to going for election by resolving all the problems.

KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Chief Election Commissioner and four Commissioners have been sworn in amid separate programs today.

Acting Chief Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma administered oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner Nil Kantha Uprety at the presence of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav while Uprety administered oath to Dolakh Bahadur Gurung, Ayodhi Prasad Yadav, Ila Sharma and Ram Bhakta PB Thakur.

After administering oath, Chief Election Commissioner Upreti and other commissioners have assumed their offices from today itself.

After the appointment of the office-bearers at the EC, the government is expected to fix the date for CA elections.
