DAILEKH: The serious debate on federalism was the main cause for not drafting the constitution in the country, an anti-federalist leader has said. Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Party, a party with few seats in the dissolved CA, said federalism was the main bone of contention among the parties represented in the CA.

KC is in Dailekh to address a mass meeting of opposition political parties scheduled for Friday. On the occasion, KC said the ongoing anti-government demonstration is not for government change rather to end rampant corruption and impunity.

“The ruling parties coming on the streets denotes its speedy downfall,” KC said. KATHMANDU: As a part of the ongoing anti-government demonstrations, the opposition parties are organizing protest rallies across the country. The opposition parties are also organizing anti-government meetings in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur today stating that unseating the present Bhattarai-led government was a must as it moved ahead with totalitarianism.

The opposition parties Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) and some other fringe parties are taking to the streets demanding Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai’s resignation.

The anti-government assemblies would be organized at the premises of Panchtale Temple in Bhaktapur and Jawalakhel in Lalitpur this afternoon. The second-rung leaders of the opposition parties are likely to address the assemblies.

The anti-government rallies are not being effective despite the opponent parties’ announcement to the protests. The opposition parties have vowed to topple the government through the demonstrations as chances of consensus with the Maoist-led government collapsed due to ruling parties’ reluctance to consensus.

Meanwhile, clashes are expected in Dolakha district today after the ruling UCPN (Maoist) and opposition parties are organizing separate demonstrations in Dolakha district at the same time today.

The UCPN (Maoist) is organizing a mass meeting at the premises of Kalinchowk Secondary School at 12:00 noon to inaugurate its second district convention while the opposition parties are also scheduled to hold a rally at the district headquarters to counter the Maoist’s mass meeting.

DANG: Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the opposition should not struggle much to topple down the government, as Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai has been infamous before the people.

Despite the coalition parties’ call to stop the ongoing agitations and come for the talks, the NC  said that Baburam Bhattarai’s government would be changed through the street protests.

Deuba said massive anti-government protests would be organized across the country to topple the UCPN (Maoist) government. Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is main obstacle to consensus, Deuba said addressing a press conference in Dang today.

The opposition political parties have started anti-government protests from Dailekha on Saturday dubbing it the people’s movement-III.

However, on Saturday, ruling parties’ coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had mocked the opposition parties’ move saying that it would make no difference to the government and coalition parties.
