KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Samyukta) Chair Pashupati Shumsher J B Rana has claimed that both the government and the opposition have become unsuccessful.

“The government and Nepali Congress both have failed. They have failed to utilize the opportunities in interest of people and the country,” said Rana at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Tuesday.

“The government is stable now. But, they have achieved very less during their one-year period,” he added.

“Our turn has arrived now. If they keep failing to work as per the expectations of the people, monarchy can return.”

He also accused the incumbent government failing to control corruption. “Oli said that he would eradicate corruption from the root. But he has failed to put his words into action. Billions of rupees was misappropriated while procuring two wide-body aircrafts,” said Rana.

He also said that the incumbent government has failed to maintain balance in diplomatic level.

“Nepal Communist Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s statement on the US intervention on Venezuela political crisis has strained the diplomatic ties with the US,” he said.

“The government had no rush to speak on the Venezuela issue,” he added.

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress central leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said that there is no basis for talks with the dissenting CPN-Maoist.

At an interaction in Reporters Club today, Mahat said talks with the hardline CPN-Maoist at this time is not possible at any cost as the position of the CPN-Maoist and other parties was different.

Club’s chairman Rishi Dhamala presided over the program.

He said, “The 11-point agreement and 25-point order issued by the President to clear constitutional obstacles, current government and November 4 election will not be changed.”

“How talks could be held as the CPN-Maoist is demanding termination of these all,” he questioned.

On the occasion, Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal Upendra Yadav said election on November 19 is impossible until their grievances were addressed. Election under the current circumstance is like staging a drama, he blamed.

He said, “The 25-point President’s order is obstacle. That should be corrected. A single person cannot be the Prime Minister and Chief Justice.”

Likewise, leader of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Pashupati Shumsher Rana said wayout to the current political situation should be sought after holding intensive talks with the agitating parties.

He also accused the four major parties of not being serious to that end.

Like, Upendra Yadav Rana also demanded resignation of Khil Raj Regmi from the post of Chief Justice.

KATHMANDU: Central leader of the Nepali Congress Arjun Narsingh KC has said that the party’s stance on formation of the CJ-led government would end if the current government announces the date for CA polls immediately.

At an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club in the capital today, KC said all the NC leaders would go for elections unitedly despite their reservation over the formation of the CJ-led government. “Unity in the party inevitable to draft a democratic constitution,” he added.

The program was presided over by Club’s Chairman Rishi Dhamala.

The central committee of the NC is scheduled to begin on Wednesday and is expected to see heated debates over many issues including CJ-led government, upcoming CA polls and others.

He reiterated that the Chief Justice should quit as the head of the judiciary, respecting the principle of power separations.

On the occasion, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Pashupati Shumsher Rana said the country’s cannot back from the republic and ruled out the chances of party unification with Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal by accepting monarchy.

“We have accepted republic. Party unification with RPP-Nepal is possible if Kamal Ji (Kamal Thapa of RPP-Nepal) accepts republic,” Rana said.

Rana, however, said that referendum should be declared to take decision on whether or not to declare the country a secular state where over 80 per cent of its population is Hindu.

KATHMANDU: Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Chairman of Rashtriya Prajatantra Party , has warned to topple the incumbent Baburam Bhattarai government by launching street protests across the nation.

Speaking to a group of ‘deusi-bhailo journalist’ led by Reporters Club Nepal at his residence in the capital on Tuesday, Rana claimed that stern agitation were necessary to pull down the unresponsive Bhattarai government.

Explaining that the ruling parties were not serious towards resolving the ongoing stalemate, Rana ruled out consensus in the near future too among political parties.

However he maintained that the consensus still is the best approach to resolve all contentions between political parties.

Responding to queries related to bringing of full budget ordinances, Rana said that opposition parties will not support the full budget and even claimed that the President also won’t endorse the ordinance brought unilaterally by the government.
