RISHI DHAMALA, (NEW DELHI): Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said that the trilateral relationship between Nepal, India and China was possible only after promotion of bilateral understanding between Nepal-India.

The Indian Prime Minister said this at a meeting with Chairman of UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in New Delhi today.

Lately, Prachanda has been advocating trilateral partnership, particularly after his China trip.

After the meeting with Indian Prime Minister, Prachanda told nepalireporter that Singh has assured trilateral partnership after strengthening Nepal-India relations.

During the meeting, Singh also pledged to support for Nepal’s development and hailed the principles of progressive nationalism and economic production adopted by the UCPN (Maoist) after its Hetauda conclave.

The Indian Prime Minister also stressed for holding fresh CA polls by November based on political parties’ consensus and expressed happiness for the formation of the CJ-led government for conducting the polls.

During the meeting, Singh also congratulated Prachanda for completing the peace process successfully and extended best wishes for strengthening democracy by writing a constitution through the CA.

On the occasion, Prachanda extended invitation to Indian Prime Minister Singh to visit Nepal as there was no Nepal visit from the level of Indian Prime Minister since long back.

In reply, Singh assured to visit Nepal in a convenient time.

During the 35-minute meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Indian Prime Minister’s security advisor Shiva Shankar Menon including others were also present.

Prachanda is scheduled to return home today by wrapping up his four-day India trip.

JANAKPUR: Nepal’s former Prime Minister and chief of country’s largest party UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Friday announced that he would contest the coming elections from the Madhesh.

“I will contest the CA polls either from Bhojpura, Awadh or Mithila. This clearly indicates Maoists’ love for the Madhesh,” Prachanda said addressing a program in Janakpur where Nepal’s President comes from.

Lamenting on the parties’ failure to write the new constitution from the erstwhile CA, the former prime minister said the two-thirds majority was essential for writing the new constitution.

“We will secure over 80 percent votes and Madhesi, Dalit, Muslim and the backward janajatis would support us,” the emotional Maoist leader said.
