The Indian Prime Minister, after the completion of three tiers of election in Nepal, had held separate telephone conversations with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and UML Chair Oli to congratulate on successful conduction of election. KATHMANDU, Jan 17: CPN-UML secretary Pradeep Gyawali has insisted on the need of removing legal difficulty to pave the way for forming a new government in the aftermath of the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.

Addressing the inaugural session of two-day Kathmandu valley-level training organized by the party-aligned All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) on Wednesday, he said the government should remove legal difficulty to provide a ground for forming a new government, respecting people’s mandate.

Delay in appointing heads and provisional capitals of provinces would have impact on the National Assembly elections, he said, urging the government not to make further delay on taking decisions on the matters.

His claim was that some forces were trying to break the left unity which according to him would never become successful. “Party unification with the CPN (Maoist Centre) will be materialized once party chair KP Sharma Oli comes back from Thailand.”

ANNFSU president Nabina Lama expressed her hope that left unity would further help the movement of Nepali communist students. RSS

KATHMANDU, July 15: Pradip Gyawali, Secretary of the main opposition CPN-UML has argued that the constitution should not be amended before the conduction of all three levels of election.

“Conduction of election is the primarily important. We can think about the amendment of the constitution after the completion of elections,” said Gyawali while speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Saturday.

“UML is not an obstruction to the amendment of the constitution. The government should withdraw the current bill, and then we will become ready to carry out fresh discussion,” he said.

Gyawali also accused the government to have shown dual character while holding talks with his party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). “First, the ruling parties agree with the UML that the amendment process will be done after the conduction of the elections. Then, they tell the RPP that UML have already agreed to vote in favor of the bill. It’s cheating,” he said.

Gyawali further said that UML is against increasing the number of lawmakers. He added, “We reject the idea. It is not acceptable to us.” He also urged the government to form election constituencies’ determination commission as soon as possible.
