KATHMANDU, Dec 31: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said NC was in need of reconciliation with discipline.

At a program organized by Nepal Students’ Union on the occasion of the National Reconciliation Day Sunday, PM Deuba said the party failed to gain votes due to growing indiscipline.

Those who betrayed the party leaders in the local elections were not punished, which resulted in the same attitude to betray party candidates in the election to House of Representatives and federal parliament, he argued. “How can the party unable to maintain reconciliation in the party advocate for national reconciliation,” he wondered.

According to him, the votes the NC gained in the proportional electoral system showed that NC had not lost much. But those betraying the party candidates won’t be spared, the President warned.

He also underscored the need of vibrant youths for the stability of democracy. The President said, “Although lost in election, NC has not lost its principles.”

Former Deputy prime minister and leader Bimalendra Nidhi reminded that the late BP Koirala did not compromise democracy with any side.

Leaders Bal Krishna Khand and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said only robust NC can strengthen democracy.

Minister for Commerce Min Bahadur Bishwokarma said the party’s cleanliness would ensure its consolidation. RSS

KAILALI, Dec 3: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday claimed that his party would bring majority in the upcoming federal parliament and province assembly elections.

“The communist are advocating for directly election presidential system in the country. Isn’t that tearing of constitution?”

Had there not been Maoist war, Nepal would have taken strides into development.”

He also accused Nepal’s communist parties of only giving false hopes of prosperity rather than working for development. “Their claims that they have contributed a lot in country’s development are just lies. Whatever the development works have been carried out in the country, NC did,” he said.
