The bus (Ga 1 Kha 1537) heading to Pokhara from Thumki VDC met with an accident due to brake failure, said police.

The injured are being treated at the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara. Among the injured , five are said to be in critical condition, said the hospital. The locals and police had jointly rescued the injured and rushed them to the hospital. RSS

According to police, three persons were killed and 15 injured after a passenger bus bound for Kathmandu met with an accident at Thakre-4 of Prithvi Highway in Dhading district. The bus (Lu 1 Kha 7333) was coming from Sandhikharkha.

Of the injured, condition of five is critical, police  said.

In a separate incident, three persons were killed after a tractor turned turtle in Siraha district at 3:00 am this morning. The tractor was carrying devotees to a temple in Mahottari district from Itatar of Siraha district.

The tractor (Na 4 Ta 4743) met with the accident after the driver fell asleep. The deceased are Mukesh Yadav and Ram Sakhi Devi Yadav of Itatar VDC and Gulabdevi Yadav of Jijhol VDC. All the injured are receiving treatment at Phulkumar Mahato Memorial Hospital.

They are said to be out of danger. The bus driver is absconding and a search is on for him, police said.

CHITWAN: Former Minister Kiran Gurung and three others were critically injured in a road accident at Darechowk in Chitwan this morning. Gurung’s car (Ga 1 Cha 7916) was hit by a truck (Na 2 Kha 8429) from the opposite direction.

The UML leader and former CA member from Tanahun Constituency No. 3 in 2008 CA election.

Other injured are car driver Santosh Lama of Hetauda, Rama Gurung and Babu Gurung. They are receiving treatment at College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur.

The bus (Ba 2 Kha 3645) was heading for Kathmandu from Bhotang of Sindhupalchowk.

Police and locals have been continuing the rescue operation. Locals and police said that the death toll could rise and the large number of passengers have sustained serious injuries.

The ill-feted bus was carrying at least 50 passengers, eyewitness said.

Police have identified only four deceased Rana Bahadur Pandey, Mitra Sapkota, Sharmila Pandit and Gita Devi Basnet of Thangpaldhap VDC-3.

The truck (Ga. 1 Kha. 1251) heading to Bara from Rautahat Garuda suddenly combusted to flame, claiming Shree Ram Thapa of Bhaktapur Tathali, and Ashok Yadav, said the Area Police Office Chandranigahapur.

The fire was brought under control with a fire engine from Gaur.

The truck was destroyed the fire, the police said, adding that dead ones were kept at Gaur Hospital.
