KATHMANDU, June 28: Sajha Yatayat, a cooperative public transportation organization, has sold 500 smart travel cards so far since it introduced the smart card payment system on March 14 on its buses plying within and outside the Kathmandu Valley.

The service has been bearing fruit as many passengers are getting attracted to it, said Mahendra Raj Pandey, manager for the Sajha Yatayat.

All buses of Sajha Yatayat operating inside and outside the valley have the service, he said. A card is purchased for Rs 200 with net Rs 200 balance.

The cards can be purchased from the conductor onboard a bus or from the Sajha’s office in Pulchowk.

Other many attractive services will also be introduced, said Pandey. Students and employees who commute regularly on Sajha buses have been benefited most.

“We expect the number of commuters using the smart card will increase in the coming days,” he said. Sajha Yatayat has a total of 71 buses operating inside and outside the valley. RSS

KATHMANDU, June 29: The Sajha Yatayat is making preparation to add 24 more buses to its service.

The Sajha Yatayat is preparing to introduce 4 Deluxe buses and 20 city motor vehicles to expand its service, according to Mahendra Raj Pandey, executive officer of the cooperative public organization.

According to Pandey, four buses will likely arrive in the valley this week while the remaining others will arrive very soon. The company had signed an agreement for the purchase of new vehicles some months ago.

Sajha operates one bus on Kathmandu-Baglung route daily and demand for expanding its long route services is increasing day by day.

“We are struggling to expand its service as demanded,” said Pandey.

Sajha Yatayat, which first introduced its bus service in 1962 March 16, runs its bus services mainly in Kathmandu and Lalitpur city. Since 2016, it has its expanded its network and has been providing long haul bus service to Baglung, Gorkha, Birgunj and Lumbini.

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: The Sajha Yatayat has finalized preparations to commence a new technology-supported payment and ticketing services in its public buses.

According to acting CEO of the Sajha Yatayat (Transport) Mahendra Pandey, Sajha is launching the e-ticketing with the coordination of Nepal Rastra Bank. The passengers may use the card like ATM card to pay transport fare.

The e-ticketing service, which is for all buses run by Sajha Yatayat to and from different parts, will start soon, it is said.

After the launching of the new payment and ticketing service, passengers will be directly benefited. The Sajha now has 46 buses in operation. Of them 44 are in the Kathmandu valley and two others in outside the valley. RSS

LALITPUR, Feb 1: The Sajha Yatayat is adding 29 buses to its fleet. The public transport company is bringing this number of buses for operation on new routes in the Kathmandu Valley and other destinations outside the Valley.

Acting chief executive Officer of Sajha Yatayat, Mahendra Raj Pandey said that among the new additions is a disable-friendly bus. He said the disable-friendly bus and a deluxe bus is in the process of being imported while the tender process has been concluded for bringing a city bus.

Pandey said the deluxe bus will be operated outside the Valley while the city bus would be run on routes as per the requirement and demand.

Sajha is operating two buses on Kathmandu-Baglung route at present outside the Valley.

According to CEO Pandey, demand has been received for operating the city bus within the Kathmandu Valley from many places. He added that the new municipalities have also shown interest in buying Sjha’s shares and operation of the Sajha bus service.

The Sajha Yatayat’s current fleet comprises 46 buses. Forty-four of these buses operate in the Kathmandu Valley. RSS

BHAKTAPUR, July 6: The Sajha Yatayat has extended its Swayambhu of Kathmandu-Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur route to Sanga that borders with Kavre.

The service was extended on the initiatives of people’s representatives of the Surya Binayak Municipality.

The Sajha currently operates 20 buses in Bhaktapur and newly launched service will be available in the office hours (evening) until the next few days and the Sajha said it is waiting for the route approval from the Department of Transport Management to regularly operate its services up to Sanga.

Former Industry Minister Basnet and Suryabinayak Municipality mayor Basudev Thapa jointly launched the service on Wednesday. RSS

KATHMANDU, May 24: The state-owned public transportation utility, Sajha Yatayat, has now spread its web network to Suryabinayak in the Bhaktapur district.

The public transportation system– which is already operating services in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and some routes outside the valley – has started start operating on the Suryabinayak – Swoyambhu route from today, said Acting CEO, Mahendra Raj Pandey.

The bus will operate services in the route from 6 am to 9 pm. A total of 10 buses bound for Suryabinayak will leave Swoyambhu starting at 6 am every day and 10 other buses will leave Suryabinayak for Swoyambhu at the same time.

The new route connects Kalanki, Kalimati, Ratnapark, Purano Bus Park, Thapathali, Maitighar, Naya Baneshwor, Koteshwor, Lokanthali, Kaushaltar, Gathaghar and Sallagari before reaching its destinations at Suryabinayak and Swoyambhu.

The Sahja Yatayat will not be using new buses, but the 20 out of 46 buses currently being operated in the other routes.
