The VDC is some 50 km to the district headquarters.

Police identified the dead as Makarmaya Rai, 84, and her daughter Dilmaya, 48.

Police said the bodies have been brought to the District Hospital for postmortem, police said.

The girls were digging out the red clay for smearing houses. The deceased are Ishu Chhetri, 16, of Deupur VDC-1 and Kamala Hamal, 18, of Ward No. 9.

They were buried when a mound in the nearby forest suddenly fell on them while digging out the clay, confirmed the District Police Office, Parbat. The injured duo breathed their last on the way to the hospital, said Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Shyam Krishna Adhikari.
