KATHMANDU, Jan 31: The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended SSP Saurabh Rana on the charge of sexual misconduct to a woman.

The woman from Dharan filed a complaint of sexual harassment against Rana in November last year. Rana was then posted in Federal Police Unit in Dharan.

Following the complaint, the Home Ministry had written to Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal to start an investigation into the case. 

According to ministry Spokesperson Kedar Nath Sharma, the ministry based on the preliminary investigation on the complaint decided to suspend SSP Rana.

The ministry has also directed the Nepal Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the case.

Rana, however, has denied the allegation. 

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The female employee working at the Parliament secretariat Roshani Shahi has formally filed an FIR at the Baneswor police station.

She filed an FIR against the former Speaker of the House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara for rape and abuse.

The Baneswor police will now formally act on the complaint and initiate necessary action against Krishna Bahadur Mahara and the first step will lead to his arrest. Inside sources say that it is certain that Mahara will be arrested shortly.
